The latest iCal and iSync only run with Jaguar. Check out this THREAD (http://www.cliesource.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&postid=208008#post208008) for more info.

I've tried both but ended up using Palm Desktop. iCal and iSync is pretty slow for me in my old G4 466. I really hope the speed gets bumped up in Panther.

Anyway, I only hotsync with my Mac during emergencies (if I'm at work and a new CF beta is out, for example ;))... my main computer is a P4 at home.

(btw, Macheads are quieter at ClieSource compared to other sites :) when they do post here however, more often than not they're immensely helpful!)

I'm not Joel, but there's not much difference between 4.0 and 4.1. Download the later one.

In answer to your other question, iSync is two things: a conduit for Palm Desktop (this is what allows iCal to sync with your Palm) and a sort of universal syncronization manager which allows you to sync various things on multiple Macs, Palm devices, and some cell phones. The list of devices and capabilities is small but growing in interesting ways. For example, we will soon have bookmark syncing between Safari running on different computers.

iCal is a replacement for Palm Desktop. Each has its advantages; personally, I prefer PD, but I'm waiting to see what happens with iCal in the future. You need iSync to use iCal with any other device.

As Joel said, you need Jaguar to run either of these.

Palm Desktop 4.1 has USB support for more devices (namely my TG50). It also adds some new conduits that are very Palm device specific (Palm Photos and Palm Voice Memo). Other than that, a few little bug fixes (e.g. Palm Desktop 4.0 used to f*ck Apple Help).

As far as iCal requirements, OS 10.2 is required. See here:

A similar message for iSync can be seen here:
