-I originally posted this in the Clie SJ series forum...maybe some of you can help :)
OK, I just bought an Clie SJ30, and I want to put an Expense program on it. The problem is that I need advice on what to get. There are so many out there...its a little nerve racking (esp. since this is my first clie). Oh and also, its for my personal use, not for business. I basically want it to be able to do the following:
1. track expenses (and categorize them)
2. sync-able/linkable (you can modify it in excel and on your pda)
3. keep track of my (checking/credit card) accounts
4. keep a budget (optional but would be nice)
Any suggestions on software?
I have been reading older threads & searching online (yahoo).
So far, I know of Pocket Money 3.0 & Quik Budget, Mobile Money 3.0, and BudgetBooks 4.0. I dl BB4.0, but I kept getting fatal errors so i removed it.
Thanks a bunch for the help! :D
After reading most of the posts, I was also thinking of getting DB5, Secure It, and Today, but I am still undecided.

BudgetMaster is worth trying. (http://www.budgetprogram.com)
it can serve all your objectives except for no. 2. It is synchable but not linkable i believe.

A search is also worth trying.
But my best advice to you would be to just take a real good look at PocketMoney.

-sorry to bug....
and tanks for the advice...I am currently dl Pocket Money v3.2...I'll let you guys know how it goes...its gotten a lot of great reviews...so it should be good. I think I am turning into a PDA feind...I'm constantly checking this site! I love it!
oh, btw...know where I can get "secure it"? its a program for keeping track of passwords...or would you suggest "3nity-the star combination project"?
thanks again! :p

If you are on a mac pocket money is useless. I use Splash Money myself. They have a great Mac conduit and the authors are very good about incorporating suggestions.
I you want a way to keep track of passwords and other personal information I would suggest Splash ID (You would think I work for the guys). Again it works equally well on PC and Mac and it is very secure.

I actually dl Spash Money too..I saw it on the PalmGear websiite. So I'm going to try out both (trial). I have a PC not MAC, but its good to know Splash works for both.

I have the whole Splash Wallet, been very pleased :)!
BankBook4. Can do all but No. 4. It's a check register program, but can be used to track credit card purchases as well. Syncs CSV data that can be imported to Excel
There is BudgetBook app that will do No. 4, but it doesn't seem to be worth the price.

Another vote for the SplashWallet Suite! Splash ID I couldn't live without....Splash Shopper is pretty darn handy...and Splash Money is easy to use, good looking and keeps me organized financially. My only complaint is that Splash Money does not synch seemlessly with Money 2003...Other than that, it's the best money program I've found.

Test drive Accounts & Loans by John Leung. I have been a Palm user since Pilot Professional days. This has been one of the few constants in my app list. It's one of the few apps where I can't think that there is much worth changing other than Hires+.
Whilst many other programmes without Hires+ annoy the hell out of me, this one doesn't bug me at all..... how about that for brand loyalty.
I have to confess it doesn't do 2 or 4 on your list ... but try it.

Being a long-time user of Quicken on the desktop, Pocket Quicken was the only way to go. I'm very pleased with the interface between the two. ;)

I use Sheet to Go and set up my own expense categories. The nice thig about a spreadsheet is that you can make it do what you want and it doesn't do what you don't want.
I track my credit card purchases, budgeted categories and income for tax reporting. I also shadow my checkbook deposits and checks.
Start small and add on as you see new uses arise.
The top 2 Palm OS software applications in my experience are UltraSoft Money (Syncs with Microsoft Money flawlessly) and Pocket Quicken (Syncs with Quicken flawlessly)

I use MS Money 2003 on my PC, so which app will be the best companion to install on my TG?
Seamless synchronization with MS Money is something I'm looking for.

I have the whole splashwallet suite as well, very nice programs. No complaints.
And they are Hi-res+. Always a good feature.
I never really notice it until it is not there.

I use pocket money in conjunction with Quik Budget. A great way to keep track of banking accounts, credit cards, cash on hand. And Quik Budget keeps me within budget. Two programs I couldn't do without.

I like BankBook by Bahsoft 4.3.2 (http://www.palmgear.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=software.showsoftware&sid=EF5A4FB9-E622-46B9-96F41EFD691A90F9&prodID=6760). Works great with MS Money.
