I prefer writing SMS with my TG50. I don't like T9 and it's nice to see the entire SMS on my TG50 screen and to be able to edit the text easily... The only drawback is that you have to wait a few seconds to transfer the sms to the TG50. But that's okay for me...

I'm currently using PageNow & Monkey Messenger (still use IR port). Pretty much equal in terms of features.
But both apps can't synchronize between the mobile's Inbox between the apps' Inbox.
Each time I retrieve message from my mobile, a duplicate message will be created.

Any suggestions?

It is worth! I did not use SMS before my TG50 (and the T68i phone).

I use the bulit-in SMS application and can manage all the incoming and outgoing messages. My phone is "SMS free"...

Thats good to hear. exactly how many seconds do you have to wait for it to send & retrieve? im using funsms and it seems to be slow when i tested a tg50 at staples, but it was a quick test though and maybe it wasnt optimized enough. i already have the t68i and coming from a nokia phone texting is now harder to do. do you leave your phone discovering Bluetooth 24/7?? can you really just put it in your pocket while you hold your tg50 and can still detect ur phone? can you explain more about your experiences with it?

You set up your phone to be a "trusted device" in your TG50. You do not have to leave the phone in discoverable mode. You do have to leave bluetooth on for both devices though, which isn't a problem, unless you don't like the flashing blue lights on both devices. I don't mind it, I actually think it looks kinda cool. Although, it would be nice if the clie could work like Apple's Address Book, where there is constant communication between the devices. In Address book, when an SMS is received, it comes up on your computer. And you can reply from there. It would be cool if the TG50 could do the same, just show the msg rather than having to "get" the msg from the phone.

hi,

I use BTtoggle along with a TG50 and a T39m mobile phone. I have to agree that coming from a nokia sms with an ericsson is a pain.. Using the bundled software on the TG50 works like a charm. You don't have to worry about filling your phones memory with messages and the typing is much easier in my opinion.

FunSMS is ok, I think, and rich in it's features (different folders, signature, etc..) but I actually prefer the CLIE SMS software. It is a little more straightforward with a very clean & basic look and feel.

With BTtoggle you can either turn bluetooth on and off with a defined push of a button or configure it to do it automatically for certain apps. that way you can save battery life but bluetooth is there easy enough when you need it. On the phone you have to leave Bluetooth turned on. Then you can leave the phone in your pocket in order to reveive or send short messages.

But in addition to that reveiving and sending email with your bluetooth phone while on the go is a big plus, too.

I find about 3 seconds to establish connection, possibly 2-3 seconds for each message found, and about 5 seconds to close the connection. I've sped up sending by specifying the message center's phone number (see prefs), rather than auto-detect, but the retrieving is annoyingly slow for me. I usually read on phone, and reply on clie if necessary and longer winded, and every once in a while, Retrieve everything on the phone to archive some of it. I only use the included SMS app.

Leaving the phone discoverable is not necessary, but "Operation Mode" must be set to "On" and not "Auto". Auto only enables bluetooth when the phone needs it, not when the phone is needed.

Yes, leaving it in your pocket is fine.

jaydisc. the SMS that came with it is pretty basic i think. funSMS has some additions but i just wish it has more options to specify if you wanna check message in a certain amount of interval. Have you tried monkey messsenger? POS really needs a decent SMS app
