first try a soft reset and hotsync again. If this don't helps, try a warm reset (reset while pressing the UP button) and of course, try to hotsync again.
Hope this helps, the next step would be 'hard reset'...
i have the same problem every time i hotsync.
is it ok to leave it? doing soft reset every time after the hotsync?
my problem seems to related to thoughtmanager.
it used to be that when i remove it was fine, no error message, but now even though i do remove the thought manager, i get the Fatal error at the very end of the hotcync, while with thoughtmanager installed i get it while the hotsync, means i cant complete the hotsync at all.
any suggerstions?
thanks

You can try doing a hard reset and reinstalling manually the applications, I've done this several times, some of them I even saved precious RAM
even though i have hard reset a few times.. after a while i am getting the same problem every time. is this due to thoughtmanager?

do a hard reset and backup rename the Pref DB file on your backup folder. Then do a hotsync and a new Pref DB file will be created, try that...

Most of it is trial by error. First, always disable hacks to eliminate them. Then a soft reset. A hard reset will wipe everything, some get confused over what a hard reset really is.
one question, slightly offtopic...
whats the differences between soft, warm & hard resets?
and how do you do them (different ways)?
I had a SJ20 & SJ33 but never had to to that...

A soft reset is where you tap the reset button on screen (if there is one) or use the push pin in the reset hole on the back of the Clie.
A hard reset is a push pin reset with holding the power button, then use the up key to acknowledge that you want to wipe all data.
A warm reset, I don't know if it's applicable to the SJ series. It's kind of a safe mode that won't load the virtual graffiti area or any drivers. You do that by using the push pin in concert with the up button. Then you can use control "H" to access something like Clie Files to delete the offending app for example.
BTW, it's not a matter of if, but when. You have been lucky, but do your backups anyway!
