POLL (sort of)

What is playing on your Compact Flash?

I have:
--------
Beatles
Flaming Lips
Randy Stonehill
Wilco
Uncle Tupelo
The Go-Betweens
a few classical selections

and about 80MB left on my 1GB Compact Flash

Just curious, and off topic again

I use the 256Mb mainly for movie trailers, MTVs, mini movie such as the Final Flight of the Osiris, the CGs are really a wow factor. leaving me with little room, but still manage to store a few songs, & some extra Clie_applications/patches so as to free up space on my tiny MsGate64Mb. :D

On my 1G CF I store massive mp3 songs, that is until I can manage to get video clips running on it (just the same as off my 256MB CF). I just have problem with playing short mini clips off of the 1G, on the other hand I might consider putting full length movies on it but I doublt I'd watch it often. :D

For some reason being, I can always play HighQuality format movie clips off my CF 256 too. That's why I get a wopping 37MB *.MQV at lenght of 9min36-HighQuality (Final Flight of the Osiris) from the Animatrix episode series. :D

Good music selection...did you pick up the release "Get Me Out of Hollywood" Stonehill album from www.larrynorman.com? I did, and man, is it a "blast from the past". I've got it on my 128MB MS in my NX 60, along with a bunch of Larry Norman stuff.

Greetings from another Jesus rocker!

Mixture on my CF at the mo, everything from Nick Cave, White Stripes, Tatu, Mull Historical Soc, Yothu Yindi and a few others.

Currently I have around 8 hours of music, but as soon as the next version of the driver is released to fix the Movieplayer problem, then the music will go down and on with the movies......

ok heres a redundant question but how are you guys getting trailers or any movie to play on cf? i tried hotsyncing one to kinoma, it showed up but i got a white screen and no playback. i have read that the directories on the cf need to be the same as the mem stick, if so how do you do this? or are there any other tricks to get one to play sucessfully. and i have the new driver w/update, mspro patch etc.

Eddy

so the movie is under /PALM/Programs/Kinoma/ within your CF right? & have you tried playing the same movie off your MS with Kinoma Player to see if it runs off it?

Have you tried the "trick mode"?
Mount your CF with MS masquerading ON. Then eject the MS off the slot while Clie is still "Powered ON", then power-off your Clie, now re-insert your MS while the power is off. Next you'd notice the orange LED is blinking & reading your MS. Power ON your Clie now, & then should be playing fine. :D

I also have the System driver update & MS Pro Patch.

ok eddie, its works ok on mem stick, now do i need to create the directory on cf? also should i transfer the movie to the mem stick first then copy it to cf or hotsync movie to cf(which didnt seem to work). going to fool around with it a bit in the meantime and try the 'trick', thnx for the help.

hey swissdan, check out , mjpd.com for animatrix stuff.

its works ok on mem stick

since your movie works on MS then there's definitely nothing wrong with the movie clip itself. You can either transfer the movie from MS to CF / or just directly hotsynce to CF. (Having the exact same directory on your CF as you would have on your MS).

Since I haven't heard report from anybody who couldn't get Kinoma movies to run off the CF, I'd assume that it would work for you as well. Also if I've not mistaken, kinoma player can play both movies off the MS & CF (whether in trick mode or not).

Hope things goes alright for you. :D

1 GB Kingston CF Card

Main use is for MP3s but also going to move some database files (e.g., flight planning) over to the card.

That is what I call a good use of the Compact Flash card and driver!!! Very impressive. Hope your kids don't drop your clie!

I have about 8 hours of music... that account for abour 52% of my 1GB CF card... then a couple of music videos...

But I'm also impressed by the size of those videos (Matrix, Minority Report & Shrek)... is there anyway u can share them?... would be great to have them.

Since we live in a bit of a backwater (The UK) my internet connection is restricted to a piece of damp string running into our local exchange (48k if the sun is shining). Unfortunately I cannot abuse the bandwidth hospitality of my current client.

Since you guys seem enthusiastic, how would I best share one of these, and what would I need to set myself up with.

Hmm - maybe burn it onto a cd and send it to someone who is set up to deliver it? Just a guess.

Dunno if this is a stupid suggestion, but rather than sharing the files (which would be awesome as I'm lazy :D), wouldn't it be better if we just found out how to do the same? That way we could apply the same principles and get the same results with any movie file.

Even if it IS a stupid suggestion, I would love a step-by-step run down, if it wasn't too tedious for you donaldekelly, on how to get usable movies compiling at these awesome sizes.

Again, I was quoting someone else - I do not have these movies. I was just complementing simont. See above.

put it the other way around, I think I'm being played around by my Compact Flash Card... having trouble getting the correct ratio & perfect quality movies into it. But at the end succeeded! :D

oh, a guest from another post had this link:
which I found to be very useful if you do conversion from a (S)VCD.
www.vcdgear.com
very simple & user friendly, it worked well with files I couldn't convert with VirtualDub, QuickTime Pro, TealMovie... etc..
it generates a basic mpeg format that seems to work well with ImageConverter too!

think you might want to try out mini's patch for NX80, try and find it in the CompactFlash Forum, it's there on the 1st page. :)
It will allow playback of MP3s & movies from CF Card. :p
