Looks like 1src has been abandoned. Not a single new article in almost 3 months. What a sad end to a formerly useful site.

Hi,
Looks that way.
This used to be THE site when the Clie was still in the pda game.
I think Reggie and Joel (the owners) have shifted their focus elsewhere.
I know this site can be popular but the focus needs to open up and not just be Palm specific.
Oh Well! not my site and I am not part of the staff, if there is one.
Just a sad way for this site to go out.

The spammers have kept the forums looking active (hate those bass turds).

Yeah, merging ClieSource and PalmOneCity was the worst thing they did. They killed off the off topic section so now no one posts.
MrStyle: well, there really is no news from Palm aside from the Pre. ;)
David: yes, I've moved on to other interests but we still keep the site up for whatever discussion that comes up.
scottl: the spammers rarely exist for more than a few hours. They may show up in the main page but if you click on the forum area, their post would be gone :)
mike p: we can't please everyone with the merge. Some loved it, some didn't.
The old off topic area was used like an instant message site, if you remember. As a free site, Cliesource could just not handle the volume of posts per minute. The usual posters started new sites but it faced the same problems and were gone after a while too.
We were and continue to be a hobby site living off our own funds. 1SRC is definitely not something to quit our day jobs for. It will continue to be free and will continue to stay and support Palm users, seasoned and new.
Joel, Thanks for the update. I still check in here. My biggest problem with being able to add to the discussions is that I won't get a Pre until I can get it unlocked for GSM. That looks to be at least 6 months off. I suspect that's why we don't hear from Alan Grassia anymore. I assume he wouldn't consider using Sprint as a carrier either.
But I'm really thankful you guys are still keeping the site operational.

As long as 1src is here I'll still be by at least twice a day. :)

Hi:
I still use my T/X daily and appreciate 1src very much. It's an intense time at work and home at the moment but I still check in and still learn from the site. I hope and encourage the owners to keep 1src on line.
Thanks,
Tom

i am sure if sony revived the clies, the site willl be popular again. it was sad to see sony go.
it was sony that pushed palm to be more innovative.

SO TRUE!
Yet, I used to get the feeling that Palm didn't like what Sony was doing to their OS! LOL! Clie's were the best Palm's EVER! :)

.. I used to get the feeling that Palm didn't like what Sony was doing to their OS! ..Agreed. I wonder what POS devices would have been capable of doing if Sony stayed in the game. They did great things on top of our beloved old OS. I'm sure it would have been a lot more capable than it is (I'm not yet ready to say 'was').

It's old history, but the merger really was inevitable after Sony discontinued the CLIE line. The site didn't quite feel the same after that, but blame Sony for no longer putting out new CLIE's. :(
The site is still THE repository of info for all CLIE and Palm stuff.
There hasn't been too much new lately, hence the lack of news. But the 'other' Palm site does post a lot more, even if it's minor news.

Well there is still a poll on whether you'll be buying a foleo when it comes out sitting on the front page. It's safe to call this site abandoned imho :(

Sometimes is sad to say goodbye... As in The Lion King, we have completed our circle of life... The things last while they are meant to last... I don`t use my Clie devices any more, including my loved Treo (I'm waiting for a GSM Pre)... but I still keep them as part of my life... As many others, I move long time ago, but still come here once or twice a month, just to remember or to see what's up... Joel, well done and Godspeed...

M0nkeyb0y recently helped out a person with the UX50 driver issue and pointed to Sony site:
http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-list.pl?mdl=PEG-UX50®ion_id=1
I was impressed that this forum still is active in helping people with those classic problems.
Also, just reviewing the UX50... this was a Clie that was light years ahead of Palm itself! I will never understand why Sony pulled out. Their tech was SO sweet and could have carried Palm right up until now. There was such a strong following for Clie's and related mods.

They were in over they're heads. The Japanese market is a LOT different. They will buy anything over there, cost is least of they're worries. We in the US wanted cheap! :p

I wouldn't exactly say abandoned, Not only news on the Pre, but Garnet VM for the Nokia Tablets (just got one). There will be software development, just a bit slower since those damn smartphones took over.
Just my belief...a phone for a phone, a PDA for a PDA, and a camera for a camera...NOT all in one, because when one goes out, they all tend to go out. (really don't mean to rant)

Then just tape a Phone, a PDA, a Camera, an iPod and a Nintendo DS together and you have got yourself a smartphone :D . Where is the problem?

I don't want a phone either. I am happy with different devices. Can my PDAS play music? Yes. I keep some on them "in case" but I use my iPod or Sansa.

LMAO!!! I wish, for now I will have to settle for my Nokia N810 w/Garnet VM, LG Lotus, and my Olympus E-330.

I am totally about that as well. I still use my LifeDrive daily! I use my phone as a phone and some e-mail.
My LifeDrive is a one time purchase, no fees, no plans and has all my important stuff. I love the big screen and playing music and movies on it and how it connects to my home network. But it's the PIM functions and e-books that keeps it viable.
When people ask me to recommend to them a true PDA, I don't know what to tell them. Everything is a smartphone now. The iTouch is the only new "PDA" no-phone that's being advertised it seems.

I know the feeling. I tried the iPaq 110 when I seen one at Circuit City and returned it a week later due to low memory. They didn't have the 211, and those are the only true PDA I know of. I don't count the iPod Touch.

Ranting is a good thing ....... it's the raving that will get you into trouble..... LOL Many feel the same way. I used to and still do, partially at least. I've got to have my SLR camera. It wasn't until the Pro came out that I could accept the smart phone form factor. Previous ones were too bulky for my shirt pocket. My use of the Pro as a PDA is probably more limited than many. I keep a lot of contacts and my appointments along with personal data (password protected of course) and a couple of simple games to amuse myself.
