Not sure about conversion but you can use an app like Palmary Clock to directly work w/ files off the card.

make it 16 bit, mono, and just 2 voices at once, then just Hotsync it. Hotsync will merge it into 'System_MIDI_Sounds.pdb' which is the alarm sounds database.

There are many utilities that will play MP3, wav and midi as alarms.

Here are questions in my mind, it seem complicated:
1. which software can make it 16 bit, mono?
2. what does it mean 2 voice at once?
3. "then just Hotsync it", what does the file type is (the extendsion for known file type)?
