Hi,
Is there a desktop application that comes with datebk5? Or does it integrate with Palm desktop 4.1? If the latter, is this integration unproblematic?
Thanks!

DateBK5 integrates EXTREMELY nicely with the Palm Desktop software as well as many other PIMs like Outlook. You just need to use a sync manager like Intellisync Lite or Chapura's Pocket Mirror. One of these two programs most likely came with your PDA.
DateBK5 uses the standard Palm DateBook database, so compatibility is ensured. The only caveat is that some DateBK5-specific functions like Icons are not reflected on the desktop. They are stored on the desktop so that when you sync, everything stays intact, but they are just not accessible.
Desktop compatibility has been one of the key features of the DateBK5 app.

DateBK5 is the most useful and productive software product I have ever purchased. I have been using it for years. As Jim mentioned, “it integrates EXTREMELY nicely with the Palm Desktop software out of the box.
I use Desktop To Go to sync with Outlook. I like the ability to whisk out my calendar very fast and find a date or filter out categories; it’s faster than outlook even when my laptop is already booted. It’s also easier on the eyes. I use categories with icons and different text colors and blocks. For example: travel is a jet with soft text and personal is an American flag with bright red text block, waiting is a question mark with light grey text that resembles light erasable lead. The best part is when I sync with outlook via Desktop-To-Go I created the same categories in outlook and associated them with labels that use the same colors I use with DateBK5.
I could go on about dateBK5 but this thread is about synchronizing DateBK5 with the desktop. Desktop-To-Go will synchronize alarms and handle multiple addresses. It will synchronize what you want and what you don't want. As an example, if you have stuff on the computer you don't want on the Clie, or vice versa. I don’t like it when coworkers send meetings with alarms that drain my batteries so I disable Outlook alarms on my Clie.
DateBk5 and Desktop-To-Go make my Clie a true portable management tool that I use more than my laptop. It’s fast. It filters out the clutter. It is way ahead of Outlook with useful features. I can even manage pictures of my contacts on my Clie. Come on Bill Gates, I thought you were the biggest software company in the world! Can’t you compete with these little programs the use barely any resources? Sorry, I couldn’t resist an opportunity to complain about Microsoft…
