Hello,

I am a newby and I am concidering on getting a Clie for the pupose of using it as a portable storage device for my Digital images taken with my Sony Camera.
I was about to buy the nz90 in the past but when I was told the CF slot is only for WiFi I backed.

I have several questions but any tip would be be most welcomed:

1. In General which Clie is recomneded - what are the opionions on the NZ90, is this the newest model? Are there any new models coming soon?

2. Is there only 1 driver for CF, I saw many complaints here in the forum, any1 has something good to say about it?

3. Does any driver support more than 1GB CFs?

4. Any1 uses his Clie for storing digital photos on the road?

Thank you very much,

Ori

Since all current PDAs are limited to 16mb internal memory, I imagine you are trying to either (or both):
-use Clie to copy image files from your cameras memory stick to another media (CF)
-use Clie as a viewer for your files
In either case, since you already have a camera you likely don't want/need the "more advanced" camera in the NZ90. The NX70 will do fine for this, though it's a lot to spend if you only want to copy/view files.
There is only one CF driver, which actually works very well. However some have said that it is very slow, which would be an issue if you plan to copy files. The eruware.com site will give you the compatibility info you're looking for.
As stated above, you really can't "store" digital photos on the Clie, though I'm sure there are many who use it as a viewer.
If you just need extra storage space, why not buy one of the 1gig MS Pros?

If he has a nice camera, get an NX-60 (it's a NX-70 sans the camera). While I do not have the driver yet (or a MS), I'm pretty darn sure you can copy from the MS to the CF (with the Eruware driver). Get a 1gb CF card......should be set.

MSPro 1 GB costs the more or less the same as Clie + 1GB CF :)

This way I thought enjoying both a pretty nice PDA + a mobile storage device for my photos.

1. Yes (and no. PEG-TG50 is the latest I believe..). However if new models are and have always been a concern to you, then you would be pretty dissappointed to find out when Sony discontinues and introduces new models every few months. Don't be surprised to find the NZ90 phased out in about a year or so. (OK, so maybe I'm exaggerating.)

2. Yes there is only one driver for CF by Eruware. There are as many complaints as there are compliments for it as far as I know. For me, I couldn't live without it since I discovered it. Eruware has done a great job with the driver IMHO. It all varies on the individual's expectations I suppose.

3. I do not think there are any > 1GB CF cards out in the market yet. Perhaps Eruware can answer that question.

4. Yes, me. :)
