Ever since I laid my Visor Platinum to rest, the one app I have been missing is a VPN Client for my NX70v. On the VPL, I used Movian VPN (http://www.certicom.com/products/movian/movianvpn.html) to connect to our Checkpoint Firewall, check emails, access our intranet, reboot servers via vnc etc...

Unfortunately, movian have not developed an OS 5 compatible version yet and whilst they are developing a version for the TungstenThank you for your inquiry, we are presently working on a client for the Tungsten C and it will be available in September.  Please feel free to contact me if you have any further questions. They have no intentions to develop for the Sony ClieAt this time we haven't any firm dates or plans to support the Sony Clie OS 5 (we are still investigating), if a large opportunity arises this of course can change.   Please feel free to keep in touch with me to check our progress on this initiative. Can we get enough interest going here to inspire Certicom into action?

That's weird. The Tungsten-C comes with a standard VPN client. Why on earth would they develop another VPN client for that?!?

if anyone can extract the vpn client from the t/c, that would be great.

Mergic (http://www.mergic.com) makes a VPN client for Palm handhelds. Unfortunately, it seems that Sony's "dont ask, 'cause we won't tell" policy has struck again:

Q: Can I use Mergic VPN on Palm OS 5 based handhelds?

A: No, the current version of Mergic VPN is not compatible with Palm OS 5.

There is a version of Mergic VPN's PPTP implementation built-in to the ROM of the Palm Tungsten C OS 5 device. This version uses a VPN interface created by Palm specifically for this device. We are not sure when or if this interface will be made available for other OS 5 devices.

There is also work going on to generically support Mergic VPN in Palm OS 5 but creating the necessary changes to support the VPN drivers is complicated and there is currently not a release date set.

Or, more directly:

Q: Do you support the Sony PEGA-WL100 Wireless LAN Card?

A: No, the Sony PEGA-WL100 Wireless LAN Card doesn't use the Palm OS virtual driver interfaces that are required by Mergic VPN to encrypt network traffic.
