With regards to the address little-man gave:
Don't give that idea to Microsoft - I swear, they'll buy Sony and market it. You've been warned...

The single feature that will attract my money immediately is true wireless e-mail (without the need for other gear, such as GSM) along with current processor speeds (200 - 400 Mhz) and expandable memory options. Palm was almost there but dropped the ball on the one yard line with the Tungsten W (didn't upgrade processor or OS).

Tri-slots. Seriously. Imagine how many people would switch to the new Clie if it was compatible with ALL of their existing memory cards and memory card peripherals? There's plenty of room.

Everyone thinks there is lots of room in pdas' but that isn't really the case. They are all packed pretty tightly, or else they would be much smaller.

Have you looked at the NX recently? The groove on the right side of it is practically asking for an SD slot.

you can't use tungsten c's wireless features in as many places as the w's... here in finland absolutely nowhere are WiFi connections, but the whole country is covered in multiple overlapping gsm areas

GSM isn't so bad! Here in the UK - as in Finland, I guess - there is 97% GSM coverage. The other 3% is usually the highlands of Scotland, or close to the Irish border I guess. So we can get by with GSM. Only problem is trying to keep the damn infra-red steady to my phone :(

Have you looked at the inside of an NX recently? I didn't think so, but I have. There is absolutely NO space inside that area on the right side. There's the memory stick slot there, which leaves about a centimeter of room, which is taken up by a plastic thingy to hold the speaker in place. The other side is take up by the jog dial/headphone jack piece, and the lower part on EITHER side is taken by the motherboard and battery. Sorry, no room. Just get a CF-SD adapter and the CF driver.

I prefer R2 if there is a reasonably price add-on translator.

I was just wondering if were confirming that rumor from a couple of weeks ago in the National Inquirer about Martians landing in Gdansk and giving birth to two headed cows that are developing hydrogen fuel cells for the new Clie T-series.

So what is your problem with my answer to the proposed question of the initial post. You are making no sense here:)

Relax man, it's Friday. I just thought you might have been familiar with a number of similar anonymous threads that have been running here the last couple of weeks. I don't think I'll ask next time if that's OK with you.
It's cool, just didn't get your references and didn't see those threads.:)

No, the whole point of this is so there will be, once and for all, a truly expandable PDA. Palm users, Sony users, and PPC users will all be able to use their existing memory cards with this new super-NX priced at $500 and $600 with other upgrades to the processor and memory on the current NX line. They would fly off the shelves as people scramble to finally switch back to Palm OS after spending months with a PPC because they needed REAL dual expansion. This would be awesome, and people would still have a reason to buy Memory Sticks because they interface with other Sony products. Sony just needs to push the MS slot harder than the other two, but still provide IO functionality in all three slots. Imagine the possibilities!
If there's no room on the right side, I'm sure you can put the IR port on the side (like the NZ) and put the SD slot in place of it, right atop the MS slot. Come on, there has to be SOMEWHERE they can add it. SD slots aren't too large...

Jake - The Tungsten C is Wi-Fi, not GSM / GPRS like the W model. They gave a half hearted effort with the W but were probably in too much of a hurry to launch to upgrade the processor or OS - else I would have bought it the day it came out!
