YIShow or ZLauncher

I have a Clie NX-70V with LauncherX on it. I want to get something that's a little more flashy, but cannot decide between YIShow or ZLauncher... Would one of these be pokay, or should I Get something different?

I like Zlauncher. I tried YIshow a few times on my NR70. It always crashed. I think Zlauncher is more stabile. I now use Zlauncher on my NZ90.

You will not find another Launcher that's as good as ZL ANYWHERE, and especially for $12.

If you page through this Launcher Forum, you'll find quite a few discussions on this very question. I think the vast majority opinion favors ZLauncher. It's more stable, more configurable, and better supported. As a bonus, it's also less expensive.

Heh, as a YiShow user I'll stick my foot in the shark-tank. :D

I like YiShow, it's easy to understand and does all I want my launcher to do.
But the one big niggle I have with it is the darn clock doesn't update until the minute rolls over. I.E, if I turn my Palm off at 10:30am and don't fire it up again until 11:45am, the clock will display 10:30am until it rolls over to 11:46am. Minor, but kind of a pain.

I'm also playing with the ZL demo, but I just haven't found the patience yet to figure out how to skin it out. (It's complex, but very configurable).

I'd suggest too that you DL the demo for each and play with em both to draw your own conclusion.

Aaaah Zlauncher is a pain. It's foot print is too big. Its configuration is confusing as heck and aaah I hate the thing!!!!!

I used to love YiShow very much but after zlauncher got an ability of the icon allignment (also the vertical margin) and etc .... I think what ever YiShow (or other launchers) looks, zlauncher can be seen the same, or even better, you can hide the status bar.

One thing that i miss from YiShow is the ability to copy a file from MS to other MS. I don't think zlauncher can do this.

So ... at this moment I have to say ZLAUNCHER ROCKS !!!!!!!!!!!!

Yishow 5.3 and above proves to be stable, and proves to be an excellent launcher enhancement. I myself hate tabs, I love how the jogdial integrates smoothly and intuitively with Yishow. Jogdial does not work as well with ZLauncher.

For instance: press the jog in (in Yishow) It will bring up a list of folders, then scroll to the folder you want, then press jog in to access it. Zlauncher can't do this. With Zlauncher, pressing jog in, switches folders, which can make one handed operation painfully slow and annoying.

Also, Yishow is a finished product. Very minor updates? That's because yishow has been completed already. I am happy with it the way it is.

Zlauncher on the other hand is an unfinished product. Just look at the updates every 2 weeks. Am I the only person who finds that annoying? Also, bear in mind that with every minor update, Zlauncher has been filled with small bugs. To me this is unacceptable.

I'm not trying to be a Zlauncher hater or anything. I've tried it, it is a beautiful launcher. I just think that Yishow is much better for my needs.

As for the bugs, they are VERY small and usually only apply to certain devices and are almost always cosmetic in nature, so I'm not sure this is much of an argument against ZL, especially when balanced with all the new functionality that is constantly getting added!!

I would characterize YiShow (or Silverscreen or...) as stagnant products (not entirely true, I know). IMO, it's not that ZLauncher isn't "complete"... it's that the developers are constantly improving an already great product. They're continually enhancing based on input from users. I'd prefer to purchase a product like that any day over one that rarely gets updated. Besides, nobody is forcing you to update every time a new release comes out.

Anyway, if YiShow is PERFECT in your eyes as is, then good for you. When you get down to it, that's all that really matters.

BTW - Zlauncher could be "zee-launcher" or "zed-launcher".
But how about YiShow? Is it "Yee-Show", "Ee-Show" or "Ick-Show". Either way, it sounds like someone pinched you when you were showing off your launcher! :)

Naw, this flame war is a matchlight compared to Palm vs PPC. ZL needs a real competitor before it would get that big :)

I think of ZL as "zee-launcher" (being American). Do Aussies say Zee or Zed? But for some strange reason, I always pronounce YiShow as "Why-eye-show" in my head, though I do hear the Yi is from the developer's first name, so it's "Yee-show".
