There will probably be some kind of update to the fifteen inch model sooner than later since that design is kinda old...one of my mac savvy friends told me that they are going to switch from titanium to aluminum for the fifteen inch soon. The other ones will probably stay the same for a while since they have been out for a short time

A few rumor theories indicate the 17" might get updated along with the 15" to keep it ahead... keyword :rumor

I've got the 12" Powerbook and like it for the reasons I bought it for (portability and finally owning a Mac). The heat from the aluminum can get annoying sometimes. I don't know if the 17" suffers from the heat, but I've read that the 15" titanium and ibooks aren't as bad (like most laptops). I also heard that the 15 inchers will be converted to aluminum, but that was just hearsay. Steve Jobs did say that 2003 will be the year of the notebook, so I'm sure there will be more coming out soon. I'm waiting for a good ibook for my wife.

LOL u cant get much more updated than the 17"
Im hoding out for the aluminum 15".. the 17" will stay as far as feature... there is no new technology to add at this point. As far as performance, the 17 already is armed to the teeth. with a 1gig g4 and ddr RAM both on the VIDEO and System RAM, It also has an ATA100 drive, and firewire 800 , airport extreme.

More than likely the 15" will be moved to aluminum and brought up to par with the new 12 and 17 :)

Par, I'll take that as an insult (just kidding) since there are 2 TI 1Ghz in my house with a Gig of ram each.:D I leased them last year, so If Apple introduces a 970 Powerbook, I would trade up.

Macrumors said that the Aluminum 15" books are ready, Apple is just waiting for the TIs to sell out.

And yes, I would take my non-ding worthy TI over a new ding worthy 15" Aluminum with a less capable video card. Unless it shipped with one of these: http://www.nvidia.com/view.asp?PAGE=fx_mobile

Here's a lovely picture of a desktop version of the 17". Fireball posted this originally. I guess these things can't fly.:)

I love my 17" PB -- this is a terrific form factor. Apple may end up revising it (even next month), but they can only make it faster, not that much better. I figure I'll be keeping this for some time -- add a processor upgrade in 3 years, and it'll be good to go for OS XII

The 12" PB is also terrific. Very portable. Nice keyboard. Worth the money over the iBook.

I'm also planning to buy a PowerBook this summer; I'm going to wait until July and see what the offerings are like. My guess is a new 15" with very similar specs as the current 17" (here's hoping for the glowing keyboard!), which certainly must be the king of all laptops. I doubt the 12" or 17" will receive updates during this calendar year. As for the iBook, I wouldn't be surprised to see something later this summer, but I have no idea what to expect.

I have the 17 and love it. My 5 ft tall wife loves it too. She has a 12 in iBook but prefers the larger screen of the 17 to the lighter weight of her iBook. All of my friends, including PC owners, love this screen real estate in a notebook size computer. I spend about 2 to 4 hours a day on it and the 17 inch size is a lot easier on my eyes and nerves than the 14 in Pismo that my daughter now has.

All that I can really say is WOW! :D And my Japanese TG 50 syncs via Bluetooth without a hitch.

I am new to Mac and bought the 17" last month and I wish I could have been a Mac user loooong time ago. Never miss microsoft a bit !!!! The feature of 17" is WOW....all my family and friends drool when i took out my 17" and now I have a serious problem in my hand. All my 4 kids demand the 17" to replace their PC laptop. We run wireless broadband in our house.

All the software which comes with your clie are not mac compatible. Try downloading Palm Desktop for mac at apple.com. Try Missing sync as well.
