Hard Reset not working completely?

I just realized as I had to hard reset my handheld that I don't think it is completely getting rid of everything. When I hard reset the date and time are still correct.
The welcome screen comes up and demands the digitizer calibration then sets up the date and time whatnot. And the date and time are still correct to before I had hard reset the device. Is this normal, does the system clock run seperately from the rest of the device?

It just seemed odd to me.

The date and time probably run on its own setup, kinda like a PC.

yea, the date and time, along with some other system settings, don't get wiped. You have to do a power-down reset for that.
