Here is the list of files that you will want to import into Classic, the Palm OS 5 emulator for Palm webOS devices. The core files are:
CalendarDB-PDat.pdb
ContactsDB-PAdd.pdb
MemosDB-PMem.pdb
TasksDB-PTod.pdb
I also copied the following database files, which are completely optional.
AddressCitiesDB.pdb
AddressCompaniesDB.pdb
AddressCountriesDB.pdb
AddressStatesDB.pdb
AddressTitlesDB.pdb
CalendarLocationsDB-PDat.pdb
ContactsBDIndex-PAdd.pdb
ContactsSimDB-PAdd.pdb
MemosDB-PMem.pdb
You will be able to import this data if you follow the MotionApps FAQ and load the Classic ROM update utility. After you install the update and restart Classic, you can put the files into the ClassicApps/Install folder to merge the database files into what would be RAM on a real Palm OS 5 device. You should be ready to rock-n-roll that point. I've just tested the import of all the files listed above and all of the data from my Treo 755p was imported directing into the PIM apps.

Alan. Please check the itunes feed. The episode I downloaded is labeled as ep 212, but it is actually #211 from 5/30.

You're talking about the feed from SmartphoneFanatics, right? I copied and pasted the enclosure link for the XML feed which caused the problem. I just corrected the link. It will take a while to update in the site feed for SPF.

The SPF enhanced podcast feed should be working now.
Thanks Alan. My itunes didn't know the difference between the incorrect ep 212 feed and the new one today. In my case I had to delete my SPF feed and resubscribe. No biggy really. Just something for folks to keep in mind if they downloaded it last night like I did.
I was so anxious to get your take on getting and using the Pre I read the ep transcript last night. Rest assured I will still listen to the podcast sometime today.
This has been a long time coming for all of us and I want to savor every moment of it.
Cheers to all Palm Fans

Alan, its been along time waiting for this day to finally come. I got to my local Sprint store @ 7:15am on Saturday and was 6th on line. Now I'm a happy Pre & new Sprint user! I just want to thank you for making the last two years interesting while we all waited for the rebirth of Palm!

Yes- the good news was I was streaming the link over my new Pre. The bad news was Alan was talking 755p and 680.
The MP3 link at http://www.preswitcher.com/ was the correct one.

Alan, you shoud at least get the touchstone back cover, it's got your favorite centro/zire72-like soft paint, and won't collect finger prints.
Also, do you think the PIMs are a big step backwards? Notes don't sync with anything, calendar less functional. Also, you can't copy text directly from email, sometime it doesn't work even if you try getting it in a textfield by going to the reply screen. I have to retype stuff from my email into my calendar.
I'm pretty comfortable with the thumbboard, just hoped that it'll get systemwide spelling check, like in Mac OS X

I am still using my Treo 800w (with an extended battery) and 8GB microSD. Works great for me. I feel with all the changes I've done to my device, I find my Treo 800w does more than the Pre or the iPhone. It is also not locked down by Apple like the iPhone is or needs to be jailbroken to do this.
-WMWifiRouter (tethering through EVDO Rev. A connection)
-SkyFire (real web browsing like playing Flash directly from the sites like YouTube or viewing Silverlight websites)
-PocketRAR allows me to download RAR files from the web and unpack them without using my PC
-FTouchFlo allows me to kinetically scroll
-TreoAlerts allow me to customize the LED or vibrate functionality on my device
-RealVGA allows me to increase the Resolution of my device to 320x320
-Office Mobile (comes pre-installed) I can edit Office Word/Excel files :).
Earlier this year, people found out that the Treo 800w supports USB Host meaning you can connect USB devices such as flash drives. This is really cool.
Also, I'll post a video sometime in the future of my Treo because it runs so fast even with IE, Windows Media, FaceBook, LiveSearch, etc open. I am not limited to 10 apps or no third-party apps (cough iPhone).
I feel the problem with the Treo 800w is that it has great software (especially with the Palm tweaks) but poor hardware. I've been lucky that after a couple replacements. My current device is working smoothly :).

Thanks for the link toroco!
@JAmerican: I told my brother to get the 800W for his corporate phone. It was one of the many WM phones he had to choose from. Even though he can't tweak his like you did (being corporate and all), it's still a great phone out of the box. I wish he could install SkyFire on that thing!

Alan,
Can you comment on the DtG viewer. How does it render complex MS Office files and does it view the new version 2007 MS Office files?

Alan:
Some questions:
when you use the one-way data sync to get the PIMs into the Pre, what do you use to read memos?
In Classic mode, is the a full screen version like on the TX or is a m515 screen version?
Thanks ofr the great review. Can't wait for thre next edition...

Is 1src dying? I don't think we've ever waited a month for a podcast and some of the 'news' items are really out of date. It's a shame. 1src has always been one of my first ports of call & the podcast - I've listened to every one - has always been one of my favourites.

Hi,
I really hate to think this but yes, the site is dead, in any practical way.
Someone just needs to close the lid on the coffin.

Hi,
I might be a little harsh in the post above but it is really sad to see this site limp along with no focus and very little member participation.

Seriously, this place is starting to feel deserted, even the new Pre switcher site, too......
Well, happy to see you over at PreCentral, though. I guess you were the only one I recognize from 1src over there :P

Alan, I'm missing the podcasts too.
We don't have the Pre yet in Australia....and I have been waiting to hear more about it and WebOS from you.

Hey Gang,
I've been thinking about what you guys and gals have been talking about here for the last two weeks or so. I have to pretty much agree with David on this one: will the last person out the door, please turn off the lights?
It sounds like you folks are still interested in a mobile technology podcast. If you are, I'd like to invite you to read this post (http://alanonanything.blogspot.com/2009/08/are-you-ready-for-spf360.html) over on my personal blog and comment on what a new, regularly scheduled show would look like. I'd also be interested in hearing your views about bringing a regularly scheduled chat back into the mix are.
If you guys still think that there is room for our small show in a market dominated by GDGT and the shows put on by Smartphone Experts (TreoCentral/PreCentral/WMExperts/CrackBerry), then I'm willing to put the time in to do the show.

So is that it? Should I just go ahead and delete this feed from iTunes?
Might be nice to have at least a goodbye (for now) final episode.
