I've had my N760 for about a year and a half.and recently a couple of  things occured which have thrown it out of whack.  In March, during a long road trip from Providence to Miami.  I put it in the glove compartment with some CD jewel cases.  It didn't seem to be cramped or pressured in there, but something happened because after that the screen is totally uncalibrated and using the stylus is very frustrating.  If you click on an icon on the right side of the screen, the icon on the left side will be selected.  I've tried to recalibrate the digitizer, soft reset, hard reset.  Nothing works.  It would be worse when the temperature was warmer (i.e in my pocket) , and I somehow managed to use it partially while it was cooled down.

But the other day, it accidentally fell out of my pocket onto the street as I was getting out of my car.  Now the screen problem is  worse and totally unusable, and my scroll wheel doesn't scroll the screen anymore, so i can't even select Audioplayer with the scroll wheel.

What do you think?  Could I need to replace the screen or could it just be something loose inside which I could straigten out?  My screen still looks fine visually.  Colors are all sharp and vivid.  it's just the touch-sensitivity and calibration of it that's all screwed up.

I'm pretty good with computer internals so i don't mind opening the case up and peeking inside.

My guess would be a pooched digitizer. Had a similar problem on an old Palm IIIe. Picked up a digi from gethightech and it worked like a charm right up until my two year old killed it :)

Could the ribbon cable be jarred loose after the drop? You could open it up, check all of the ribbon-cable connections, blow dust built up inside, and see if that help. I took mine apart to clean the dust behind the glass screen and checked all the cable connections before, as you see here (http://www.cliesource.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=425&papass=&sort=1&thecat=500). The ribbon cable coming from the screen & digitizer has brown color as you see here (http://www.cliesource.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=426&papass=&sort=1&thecat=500). The digitizer looks like a clear plastic layer with bunch of dots and the layer is glued onto the glass screen. Here (http://www.geocities.com/jhc19104/710C/Disassembly.htm) is the disassembly and assembly procedure. If you do need the new sreen & digitizer, you can buy it from here (http://www.gethightech.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=SO1010&Category_Code=DIG). It's pretty easy to do. I posted some of my disassembly & assembly notes here (http://www.cliesource.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=249&perpage=15&pagenumber=1).
Good luck.

Thanks for the detailed pictures. This weekend I will take mine apart and examine everything you suggested. If it still doesn't work, I'll order the digitizer. If it still doesn't work.. then I will be making a "necessary" new PDA purchase....

One thing is for sure, I will buy a case for this thing to prevent more damage from drops etc.
