Am a new NZ user and had a quick question regarding the memory sticks.

Does brand matter? I'm living in Japan and the brands that I can find here are Sony, SanDisk, Lexar, and Hagiwara. Hagiwara seems to be the cheapest of the bunch.

Thanks to any replies.

On my NZ I've tried some original Sony (8 and 64 mb) and a Lexar (128 mb) without any problem.

I've got original Sony 32, 64 and 128MB, as well as Lexar 128MB. Can't say I've noticed any differences in performance.

These days I go purely on price.

I too go only on price, I use both a 128mb Lexar and a 128mb Sony,, no difference!

certain readers have trouble with the lexar, notably the sandisk and the dazzle.... i would stick to sony and sandisk...

I concur with Greg, some also had mechanical problems with the Lexar sticks as they kept popping out of the slot all by themselves. Then again, one can always use duct tape :)

I have Sony, Lexar and Sandisk. All work well. Also have a belkin reader for the pc and it works well with all of them.

The only name brands i have ever had problems with were lexar (cf mostly) and i actually had a sandisk go thermal on me... i think someone damaged it... it actually got hot... but replaced for free from sandisk...

on the advice, i'm taking into account the pro versions of ms... have heard some not so good stuff on the lexar besides the reader compatibility problems... so, i figure to stick with what has no bad reports... there are many people with normal lexar ms that have no problems... just if i'm spending my hard earned cash, i'm going to try to minimize my problems...
