Just curious,

I logon and notice that Minolta or whoever has a CF adapter for SD memory. I also notice that Pretec's CompactTRIO is similar but adds a kind of memory. I am also curious about MMC versus SD and Memory Stick versus Memory Stick Pro.

What do you use? It would seem a good idea to get the Pretec's CompactTRIO if one wants a versitile adapter. Of course I would want one that does SD, MMC, Memory Stick and Memory Stick Pro... just because.

Yes I know that would mean a possibility of 2 1 Gig sticks in a NZ90... ;-)

I know that people have gotten SD/MMC cards to work. I have gotten SmartMedia working. But I'm not sure about the 4-in-1 or 3-in-1 adaptors, I heard that people haven't had any luck with them.

FYI -

I guess I am surprised that few people seem to have these or use 'em. It just seems like another cool thing to have, especially now with the CF driver.

Perhaps I should have posted to the accessories forum?

The 3-1 or 4-1 CF cards like the Trio are almost always just able to run one card at a time. So the four slots let you use a variety of cards but only one at a time. At least I have not seen one that works that way

SD and MMC are the same except SD as a little protection switch

This is the same relationship of MS and Magicgate MS

MS Pro is a whole new format that allows for larger capacity and reported faster speeds.

Copycat,

Thanks for the keeping me honest. I was not worried about, nor thinking of, the use of the Trio where I'd use it in three or two ways at once.

I use a 512 meg Memory Stick Pro. It is SO fast, and fairly big, so I know to value it. That means to me that I have to back IT up. I'm looking for new ways. Already, BackupBuddy does it every sync, if I let it.

My hope is to have a Memory stick pro in the "stick slot" and another memory stick in the TREO / CF "stick slot". I can then do "stick" to "stick" backups of my cards on my NZ. This done without copying to PC first. The most likely time I'd need this is on a trip or whatever.

Also, the idea of using any SD cards created for the Palm types is good as well.

I got the driver, almost just because it was there and that it could read a friend's flash direct from their camera. Now it seems it could be one more "wow" feature of the NZ.

I've done this, but using a simple and inexpensive MS<->CF adapter (the brand is "PCI", it's a Japanese product I bought for 17 US$). It worked great between a 128Mb Sony MS and a 128 Mb Lexar MS...

Though I didn't try this, I also bought a SD<->CF adapter (same brand, same price), and it worked great with a 64Mb Sandisk SD card.

Yes, a 3-in-1 or 5-in-1 adapter would be nice, but as it is, I can live with what I already have! ;)

Just curious, do you know if your converter supports "Memory Stick Pro" as well as "Memory Stick"?

Or do they have another separate CF <> MSP, probably for the same price? (They may nickel and dime their way in the world...) ;)

Don't know if it supports MSPro or not. Given that the hardware part is stricktly identical, I'd say that it should work OK, but I chose to buy a 512Mb CF instead of the equivalent MS Pro, so I can't confirm this yet... ;)

Patrick,

The form factor IS the same the driver would either need to be written recently or updated.

Although I was able to do some stuff with my 512 MS-Pro in my NZ90 MSExport and a couple of things would not work until Sony had an update. (I'd also guess that my MS-Pro is faster than the same in CF.)
