PalmGear has what purports to be a new version of DiddleBugHR, v1.1.
I was running 1.1b which the author kindly provided here at CS.
The "new" version has a earlier date than the beta and says v1.0 when you click on "about". What's up with that?

Confirmed. I just downloaded from both PalmGear and from Max's website. The dates are as follows:
PalmGear 1.1: 3/27/2003
Max's 1.1 Beta: 4/15/2003
Max's 1.1 from Website: 4/18/2003

Looks like Max uploaded the wrong file when he posted the update to PalmGear. Note also that Max's website is very slow. I'll send him a note.

EDIT: The 4/18 edition identifies itself as 1.1 when installed.

Can't wait to see the alarm bug fix and inclusion of DiddleSnap for HR.

Just heard back from Max, he says that he has fixed the PalmGear problem. So, go download it now. Haven't tried the alarm fix (I still have DB 2.60, for the customizable alarm sounds).

Let us know if the alarm is fixed. I too still use 2.60.

Fatal Exception.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Go to page on DiddleBug
2. Set alarm to go off in 1 minute
3. Switch to Address Book (a lowres app) and leave Clie on.
4. In one minute, the alarm sounds, then the Fatal Alert: Fatal Exception (Reset) messagebox shows. Address Book is still showing in the background.

I'll email Max.

FWIW, alarms are working fine on my SJ30, OS 4.1 whether in lowres or Hi res.

Do you use SwitchDash? I've been testing further, and I think that may be the incompatibility. I didn't crash after I disabled SwitchDash.

Hi I ama fan of Diddlebug using it on my old Palm Vx.

Since moving onwards and upwards to a Clie TG-50 I tried installing the version that I used on my palm Vx and it didn't work

So I looked for upgrades and came up with DiddleBugHR and Diddlebug v2.60 (Peter Putzer)

Diddlebug v2.60 is a low-res OS5 version
DiddlebugHR appears not to be compatable with OS5

Therefore I now have v2.60 but I find it more rudimentary than the version I had on my palm. Probably because it is still low res.
Has anyone tried Diddlebug HR on OS5 - does it work OK?

Thanks

Does anyone know if the author plans to allow us to select alarm sounds? The non HR version is still my favorite as it allows me to use the movie songs as alarms.

Go ahead and ask Max; his email address is in the About field on DB-HR (I'm not going to post it here for the spam-bots to pick up), and he's very nice.

I was also checking out the SourceForge page for DB regular, and saw this discussion (http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=685148&group_id=30904&atid=400459). Peter Putzer (the author of 2.60) hasn't commented, so I don't know if he is "involved" with these statements, but Max notes that the code for DB-HR and DB regular are GPL and available, so if there's someone who knows how to do this stuff, they could combine the two.

That would ROCK, but I have no idea how to do it. Anyone know anyone who knows this stuff?

Fly, I only keep pictures, a dictionary and backups on the MS so no need for SwitchDash here. A SwitchDash conflict certainly makes sense....

Just tried it out on my SJ30 with SwitchDash enabled. Yes, it did crashed my Clie, especially the ZLauncher. All the ZL DBs were messed about after exiting from DBHR. I tried with a hardreset, and disable all the hacks, then enable SwitchDash, DBHR crashed the Clie and ZL again. Disable SwitchDash, and enable HiRes Assistant with DBHR in the exclusion list (by checking it). Then everything works fine, even all my hacks (about 15 of them) are on, and still okay.

So I guess it's the SwitchDash problem. I used to put a lot apps on the MS, so had to use SwitchDash. Now I managed to put most used apps in RAM, just some games on the Card, which I don't think I'll need the SwitchDash anymore. So just uninstalled it.

Have beening using Bugme for a while, but it's too slow on my SJ30 unless I use overclock. Now with DBHR installed, I guess I can get rid off Bugme.

Love it. Thanks for the decent app.

Having read your post, I tried Sketcher too. It's very good for a free Note Pad type app with alarms, though it would be great to select the alarm sound and repeatability. The shareware version, Sketcher Plus, claims to have selectable alarm sounds.
