250$ is kind of expensive, dude.

Hey,

I was going to say the same thing...$250 is simply too much. I bought mine for $199 2 years ago.

I bought one for $200 a year ago or so but now they are selling brand new at online stores for over $300.

Right now Amazon.com is asking $500 so $250 for NEW is dirt cheap now.

One person was selling his TX with dymitry's SDHC card program. That at least made the price kinda worth it.

On the store front Frys was trying to sell their demo TX for a lower price but abused TX is one word to describe demos....in that particular case.

Thanks... I thought that 50% off the retail price was fair.

I didn't know that they were so cheap a year ago... I bought mine for about $370 or $350 about 2 to 3 years ago.

I bought mine new for about $270 about three years ago, including an IR keyboard. I can't remember if that was with a developer discount, or not, but I know they were no more than about $300 with developer discount if you looked in the right place.

Anyway, froogle shows the following:
- used, mint condition, in Amazon Warehouse Deals, for $210
- various refurb deals for about $200-280
- asktp.com (whatever that is!) and penguinsexpress.com (whatever that is!) for under $270, apparently new.

Ebay has it for Buy It Now for around $300.

Hi,

Why is it such an issue of the price Caitoz is asking?

If you think it is too high, do not buy or offer less by pm but certainly do not sabotage his potential sale by posting here that he is asking too much.

The posting of other places charging less is a bit classless and pretty rude, especially given the times and how difficult it is to make a sale nowadays.

Just assume it is your sale, would you want someone to post other places to buy the item you are trying to sell?

I would, and I assume you would be p*ssed off.

errr I think it's extremely helpful of the other posters! Given the times and how difficult it is to find affordable stuff, it's wonderful to see lower priced sellers.

It is helpful to other posters to find lower priced stuff, but I agree with harpgliss in that it is a bit classless to tell others about cheaper options in the OPs own thread.

It is one thing for you to tell other people about a cheaper item for sale but it is very much another thing for you to come into my store and tell my customers where they can find cheaper merchandise.

@harpgliss,

I agree with you and deleted my posts...it does not change my opinion however.

@Gregte,

If I see someone getting swindled...I will say something. I have in the past.

@all,

The bidding has ended on the item and it was not sold.

Actually he posted a followup message asking people to NOT bid as he dropped a box on it and its broke and not working and he advised he will relist as PARTS later.

Good!

You should speak up but this attempted sale did not feel like a swindle.

Apologies to those who may think my post above is too severe, sometimes when one tries to make a point, it happens.

You start a new thread, do not post that information in a thread where someone is trying to make a sale.

Common courtesy, hopefully it still exist in these tough economic times.

Hi,

From the Ebay sale linked above:
On May-17-09 at 10:02:13 PDT, seller added the following information:

***UPDATE/NOTICE***

The item was damaged this morning when moving some boxes.
Please DO NOT bid, the item is no longer a new item nor a working item. I tried to turned it on and it doesn't.
eBay won't allow me to change neither the description nor the price for the item. I will relist it as for parts later.

I apologize to the watchers that were thinking in bidding later today.

Thanks to rdiheath for pointing the above out.

Maybe Joel can close this thread.

As usual, your crassness and assumption that we are insulting the OP or being rude astounds me... :rolleyes:

A T|X, new or not, will most likely NOT sell for 250$ and by us telling the OP here on a small thread, rather than on eBay gives him a chance to relist it instead of just giving up and tossing it or something...

Moot point, at any rate...

And, fwiw, I'm unsubcribing from this thread.

You mean the thread is owned by the original poster?? Here I was, thinking a thread was open to all.

Also, I don't understand the rationale. Surely everyone benefits when we see the lowest priced TX. Even the seller, who will understand why his TX won't sell, and is absolved of any guilt he may feel for overcharging his customers.

I don't even think people should be advertising stuff on the forums.. If you want to buy/sell TX, that is what E-bay is for.
But, this forum has been so dead, that might as well..
Nothing else going on...
hah!

You already read my answer, you even quoted it in your post.

This thread is dead already, maybe letting it be idle is best?

But... my point is, quoting lower prices is relevant to the advertisement. It benefits the buyer, the seller, and the reputation of the forum.

If someone advertised a piece of software here, surely a mention about bugs or alternatives would be a valuable contribution to the thread.
