ZLauncher v3.20 B3 is out!

What a nice thing to come home to.

Below are the listed changes.

Here's the main changes compared to v3.12:

1) Added ability to manually sort app icons. Note, this feature is
   only available for Application tabs.

2) Added options to specify the max columns of Icon View and List View.
   Now you can specify the column width when you are not using Average
   icon alignment.

3) Added an option of the File Manager to hide the 'a68k' databases.

4) Added more color display in the File Manager to distinguish
   Read-Only and Hidden items.

5) Added File Manager Preferences to setup the preferences of File
Manager.

6) Added ability to list apps' version string in the File Manager.

7) Added an option to specify the icon highlight.

8) Disabled 1-bit and 2-bit color depth modes, due to the compatible
   issue with PalmOS 5.

9) Added an option to disable the support for Attention Indicator,
   which will fix the minor refresh problem when ZL's main screen
appears.

10) Added a new Card Tag icon for apps on second expansion card.

11) Due to a bug in v3.20B2, v3.20 will resort all application icons in
    alphabetically one more time to fix the incorrect ZLauncherDB.

12) Fixed the conflict with Uninstall Manager's Background Monitoring
feature

13) Miscellaneous updates and bug-fixes.

Yeah, I like the option to "disable the support for Attention Indicator", which made some disturbing flash screen when exiting some apps to ZLauncher. I'm so glad that it's been fixed or become optional. Finally I upgraded from 3.01 (which is the latest version that doesn't support the Attention Indicator) to 3.20. I'm a happier ZLauncher-er.

The file was mailed by the developer to the beta testers.

One fellow disabled the "support attention indicator" and now gets a fatal alert, so I am leery of trying it, since I have ZL in flash ROM.

Thank you, I'll wait until it comes out then.
I'm still wondering about which backup program to use.

For now Pocket Mirror is doing a fine job of of restoring any mistakes I make, but I would like to have an alternative for when I am on holiday and do not have the PC to hand!

How goes the CF trials?

Hello Nigel !

I use both MS Backup and Backupman. Some driver install files I keep on the MS too. Most backup apps may not restore these files due to technical reasons. They are, CF driver, system update patch, MS Pro driver, WL100 WiFi driver and Flash Enable.

I keep lots of backups, plus backup copies of my MS on the hard drive. I try to be prepared for any contingency :)!

What's this "Attention Indicator" you are refering to? Is it the alarm led ?

Great they've added the exp. card tab. I can finally select the right icon for it without having a card inserted :) (don't own a CF card yet)

Attention Indicator is the little asterisk that blinks in the upper left-hand corner of apps that support it, indicating that an alarm is snoozed or has went off. All OS4 and above devices have it.

BTW, I disable the Attention Manager and haven't had any issues yet.

Can someone help me move my Zlauncher out of flash with JackFlash without deleting preferences....I want to install new beta but don't want 2 copies on my Clie. When I check JackFlash now it looks like I have copy in RAM and copy in FLASH. I can't move it to RAM because copy is already there. Perhaps this is because it loads into RAM when the program loads? How do I avoid having 2 copies of this?

Dripps... use a file manager like Filez to delete the Zlauncher.prc file that is in RAM. You may need to exit Zlauncher first to keep it from giving you the error that the file is in use. By using a file manager instead of the PalmOS delete menu, you will not delete Zlauncher's associated databases.

I shouldn't have a assumed that everyone who has zlauncher is a beta tester(just anybone who wants to beta it can by request).

Otherwise I do love the different icon symbols for the ms and the cf!

After you install the new one in ram, just choose to delete the one in flash.

It'll ask you if you if you want to delete associated files.

Just choose no and then move the new zlauncher to flash.

Flawless for me everytime!

Now the only one feature I'm waiting for is to be able to have different settings (icon row/column, bkg color) for each tab :-). I'm sure it'll come out sometime soon.

Okay, now v3.20 b4 is at palmgear PalmGear.

Here're new changes compared to v3.20 B3 per the author:

1) Added support for directly opening ISilo and WordSmith documents
even ISilo/WordSmith is stored in /Palm/Launcher/ directory of the
expansion card(Currently only supports the first expansion card).

2) Added presets for creating ISilo/WordSmith document tab in New Tab
form.

3) Changed the internal implementation of "disable the support for
Attention Indicator", which should be more stable.

and... tons of themes for ZLauncher ... HazardD creates all of his for free.... on PalmSpirit ..... bunches of 'em here on ClieSource... and other places. Not sure how many good skins/themes are out there for other launchers .... but from what I've seen... ZLauncher has the bestest ones... and the most 'configurable' :)
