I cannot load my install disk onto my laptop because it is not a windows base. Does anyone have any recommendations. Please I cannot hot sync to my laptop.

SOME of the files are pdf & html files... you can peruse those.

YOUR best bet is to SEARCH on palm's site (http://palm.com/support/macintosh/mac_desktop.html) *SOny has GREAT Mac support =/ ; and perhaps consider MarkSpace's Missing Sync.

I am a Mac user but my PC Laptop is my NX connection.

For this particular model, you will probably need a copy of The Missing Sync software from markspace.com. Next, download Palm Desktop version 4.1 from palm.com. That will take care of syncing. (If you want to use Apple's iCal instead of Palm Desktop, then download that and iSync from Apple and follow the instructions provided.)

Sony's install disc works just fine with the Mac, and you don't need the Windows-based install program. Just drag the palm files that you want (labled .PRC or .PDB) to the software install window in Palm Desktop (available under the HotSync window).

Once you follow these steps, your Clie and PowerBook will make a very powerful combination.

Don't buy Missing Sync until you've tried PD 4.1. Reason: The TG50 does not need it to sync. It is unknown if the NX does as well, but I'd try before shelling out $30.

you need the missing-sync...plus download the newest updater (the newest update provides 100% syncing...before that, it was kinda hit-or-miss)

no missing-sync = no sync.

I understood that You could Hot-Sync to a MAC but cannot take advantage of MS-Import w/o Missing Sync...

I have a PowerBook G4 and a NX60 and I had that same issue...

Missing Sync was a real mess when I bought it, and it was a big disappointment since I used to use a m505 and it worked fine.

After a few updates, mask/space made the hotsync work better. And now, with the missing Sync 3.0.6 I have no complaints.

Has anyone attempted syncing an NX series with Palm Desktop 4.1 BEFORE installing Missing SYnc?

I bought Missing Sync as I had my TG50 when only Palm Desktop 4.0 was available. It was required. I couldn't sync without it.

Once Palm Desktop 4.1 came out, I clean installed everything EXCEPT missing Sync and it worked, so to reiterate:

MISSING SYNC IS NOT REQUIRED FOR ALL CLIES. PALM DESKTOP 4.1 ADDS NATIVE SUPPORT FOR SOME CLIES.

So, can anyone maybe post there success/failure stories related to palm desktop 4.1 WITHOUT the missing sync?
