Engadget posts PhoneScoop's video of Classic. [details (http://www.1src.com/?m=show&id=2164)]

Just drag the .prc files on to the Pre. People who have played with other emulators should be familiar with the process.

Great, does this posting mean 1src news postings are alive again?

That emulator looks pretty promising, just wonder how tweakable it is, for example, could we run custom launchers on there? Language plug-ins? DAs?

In the future, I'd hope it'd tie in with WebOS just like how Parallels ties Windows in with Mac OS X: show classic apps on the WebOS launcher; allow classic notifications (such as alarms) to show up as WebOS event notifications; allow WebOS global search to search through Garnet search items; allow cut and paste between WebOS and Garnet both ways.

And best of all, if possible, allow multiple instances of classic to run simultaneously, then you have the first real multitasking PalmOS experience :)

Great find Joel! I love this classic emulator. I'll be using this to keep on using Palmary Clock. They have a pretty clear version over at PreCentral (http://www.precentral.net/classic-palmos-emulator-video-walkthrough) for the emulator as well. I'm very happy to see the menu shortcuts still work as well. :D

I don't know if they show it on the video that Engadget has, but on the video I watched over at SlashGear.tv, the Palm employee doing the demo brought up the Palm OS About screen and you can clearly see that the emulator is running Palm OS 5.2H - as in Palm OS 5.2 Handspring edition. I have to pull out my Treo 90, but I think that is comparable with Palm OS 5.2.1 that was on the Tungsten T3 and C. That should make the moders happy. Palm OS 5.2.x is considered one of the most stable versions of Palm OS 5.

You know what bothers me? Why does MotionApps ask for a list of apps we'd like to work on Classic? This reminds me of CrossOver Games for Mac which has an official list of apps it supports but other than the list, the users are on their own.

Call me a sucker, but I just assumed that it was a way for Motion to categorize and prioritize testing of their emulator with the real world software that their potential customers will want to use.

Keep in mind that the emulator could be a step back in time if my assertion about Palm OS 5.2H are correct. That is an older build that what has been available on the Z22, Tungsten E2, Palm TX, Treo 680, Treo 700p, Treo 755p, and the Centro.

How do you drag the .prc files onto the Pre if it does not connect to the PC?

I have not watched the video, guess I am waiting to see when this is going to be released, but this does not sync to the PC, correct?

You also post this.

The Garnet Virtual Machine for the Nokia Internet Tablet, Access also has this way of doing things.

I also think Styletap is this way with their emulator that runs Palm apps on the PPC.

Hiya Harpgliss! The pre is esentially a flash drive, you can't sync but when you put the connect with a microUSB it will pop up a drive for you to drag and drop files onto the pre.

Got it, thanks.

Right now, until they put a release date to this, I have been more of a casual reader on this.

Once this has a release date, I will start to really get into the details.

I for one am very happy to see that Palm has not forgotten about its Classic and Humble beginnings! Yey! (Come on, could you really live without Datebook6?) ;)
