I'm thinking of upgrading from a T675 to a TG50.
What are the good points about it apart from BT & the keyboard.

believe it or not, the TG50 has one of the smallest screens in Sony's CLIE lineup. The screen is a tad smaller than the T675.

Not necessarily a really bad thing, just something to consider...

Thanks for your help. I'll try and have a play on one before I decide.

Well it's exactly the same size...just minus the graffiti area

I went from a Clie 615 to the TG50. The screen is a little smaller, but you would have to measure it to tell. The keys sort of grow on you. I now use them more than I thought I would. The screen is much brighter than the 615's, and the battery lasts much longer. Did I mention how fast it seems compared to the 615.

Incorrect. It is smaller, although minutely.

Upgraded from a T415 to a TG50 so not really apples to apples for you -- I can say this: if you're planning to pair with a BT phone for wireless access, you won't regret it at all! It's a pretty slick setup! (I have a T68i phone on Tmobile).

exactly! I use my TG50 paired with a bluetooth T39m and a GPRS connection plan - and it's perfect for email! I even used the browser (netfront) a couple of times when the pop3 access failed and checked my mail through the web interface. no problems there and since I get charged by the kilobyte it is not that pricy either. never thought I would be surfing the internet with a pda, but it really does work. at home I sometimes use my DSL connection via bluetooth and check/write email or have a look at my bids on ebay sitting outside on my balcony.. ;-)

I've been longing for an easy access emailsolution for years and now I've finally found the perfect setup.

sending and receiving short messages via the mobile phone works like a charm, too.

I like the keyboard (lighted!) and use it pretty often and I am not missing the graffity area. although I will try TealScript soon. With TealScript you're supposed to write anywhere on the screen similar to graffiti2.

The TG50 is small, fast with good battery life, great mp3 or video capabilities. I like it a lot.

I picked up my TG yesterday, I'm still deciding. I'm kind of a power user, upgrading from a 760 that died. I'm REALLY REALLY hoping something get announced very soon, because I don't know if the TG50 is right for me. There are some nice features, all of which have been discussed... but the new Zire (don't laugh) really IS a great feature set for the $$. Plus I can get $50 for sending in my dead one to Palm.

Sony has all those extra apps, but I already have their 3rd party counterparts. Sony Image stuff = Splash Photo. Sony Movie stuff = Kinoma Producer/Player. Etc... the voice record is cool, but alternately you can write a memo, but there really is no alternate to a quick snapshot, which the Zire gives you. Plus I've got an iPod for my MP3s, so I'm set there.

What I WOULD miss is the thinner form and the jog/back buttons. I felt very weird holding the Zire without those. But, the Zire screen is SO GODDAM GOOD!!! You really should compare them.

I guess I'm not helping your decision, obviously I haven't really made mine. :(

Thanks guys thats been a great help.
As I will be using it a great deal for GPRS email via my T68i the reply by cosFMM was what I wanted to hear.
How was the change over via hotsync etc. I will be giving my 675 to er indoors and setting up the TG to sync with my laptop.

Thanks for the help
