Two months back my Zire 72 started doing a lot of spontaneous hard resets especially when the corners of the screen were tapped.
After a month digitizer became unusable (only top and right coordinates registered).
I thought it was a digitizer problem and replaced with a new one. New digitizer also behaves same.
Additionally now the display flickers and goes white at times and also the back light flickers.. So I think the digitizer problem is also due to loose contact in ribbon cable itself NOT a faulty digitizer.
I have cleaned the cable contacts with alcohol (they come gold plated) but no acceptable improvement.
As far as I know the cable is not available.
Any other ideas to reinstate the contacts (eg conductive paint) so that the PDA is usable??

new screen/digitizer assembly may be your only shot

Thanks for the reply. But it doesn't come with the FPC cable that connects it to the motherboard.. Looks like the cable IS faulty - unstable resistance with multimeter on some contacts. Any idea where I can get the cable? or is the same cable used any where else (some other device etc..)
