View Full Version : Hard Reset Confusion

The other day I was listening to an audio book on my CF card on my NX. I stop Audioplayer with the remote then started it again and it did not respond. I opened up my flip case and the power button was on. I opened the clam shell and the screen was dark. The first thing I thought of was the hold button. Neither hold buttons on the remote or main unit were on. Now I was getting worried. I tried to turn it off and on but it did not respond. The power would not go off. So I performed a soft reset. When my NX came back it had performed a hard reset and everything was back to the way it was fresh out of the box.

I am not sure why this happened and the only reason I am starting a thread in the CF forum is because I was using the CF slot at the time the problem happened.

I think becasue the power button would not go off and I performed a soft reset is the reason for the hard reset. But why would the power not turn off?

Maybe something was pressing the power button in the case. Would that cause it to get stuck?

Anyway the bottom line is that I don't want to do that again. If anyone has seen this happen or can explain it I would appreciate it.

To help prevent the hard reset on a soft reset, install the system update patch. It has something to do with a power issue an the memory stick, but it could apply to the CF too, but that's just a guess.

Ouch! It's never nice to hear one's Clie going into a hard reset, but it's happened to me before and before the CF driver. The system update patch seems to have eliminated my problem.

Thanks for the reply, bad thing is that I had the system patch installed.
