View Full Version : Cannot delete a program?

This is weird. I tried a shareware version of ScreenShot. Decided I really don't want it (the app is great - I just don't have a pressing need for it.) Now I can't get rid of it! I tried just deleting it in ZLauncher, it stays. I tried removing it via the File Manager and get "Database: database protected (DM 021B)"  Tried exiting ZL and just doing a normal delete; got "Unable to delete ScrShot."

Any suggestions are welcome!

I use Filez or FileMan a fair amount to odx this sort of thing. In certain cases one HAS to change the attributes first and then delete it.

I hope this helps.

Warm reset. If you dont know how, here it is.
Hold down up hardware button. press in reset button.
The status bar and graffitti area will be white, and the font will be weird. this is normal. Delete the app, and do a soft reset to get out of the "safe mode".

Heh heh... well Filez worked... in a way. First time caused a nassty fatal error. Wouldn't even do a warm reset. Nada.

So hard reset it was, and due to dilligent and careful backups, I was back up and running in minutes. (Thank you Larry!!!)

But hey!!! The files are gone! So the end result was what I wanted!!  Man, this has been SUCH a Monday!

Thanks, guys!

Your welcome :)!

BTW, please don't forget to reinstall the system update patch. The NX has a nasty bug that can cause a hard reset on a soft reset. It's happend to me several times in the past without warning :(  The patch seems to have fixed it :) Everytime you do a hard reset, then it has to be reinstalled as modt backup apps won't :(.

Yes indeed! I never had the spontaneous hard reset issue, but really, why ASK for trouble?!

Wolfsmoke,

Humm... Hardreset? Yuck. Still, I am glad you're working.

I should have also suggested a warm reset and then a delete. I have had to do that on certain system apps. Once enabled they seem to be considered part of the system.

Ahh well, it was a good test of my "disaster recovery" plan, as well as my "Oh. My. GOD!"-reflex reaction! :D
