View Full Version : Guy at the Sprint store said the Pre is delayed until the Apple suit is over

Today I stoped by the Sprint store to pick the clerks brain a little about the Pre, knowing full well that they usually know less than we do about anything. He basically said in a nutshell that they wouldn't get the PRe until the conclusion of the Apple court case, if ever because of it.

I have to doubt that he knows anything but he did at least know about the Apple situation, so who knows? Either way I'll be waiting for my new Pre patiently...

Apple did not sue Palm, yet. If they do, they will wait for the Pre to be released, and specially if it hits big. Not before, not worth the lawyers' honoraries... :)

Must Apple sue Palm? And must Palm retaliate by suing Apple in arrears? Answer is NO! Both could self-destruct by vengeance instead of mutual cooperation and healthy competition. Both should remember that without us (the consumers) they cant exist and consumers thirst for flavors and innovations rule against monopoly. What we really want to see is Apple taking up the competition (if Palm Pre makes the hit) to respond not by court action but by releasing a breathtaking and a "wow" device. The lawyers (scribes) fees should be invested in R&D instead.

The sad truth is that you have a better chance at winning Lotto than to find an employee in any electronic retail location that has the slightest clue about anything they don't yet stock - and nearly as frequently for anything they do. I listen to the clowns in Best Buy and other electronic stores spew the most ridiculous crap at customers who, in turn, gobble most of it up. I frequently wait for the sales person to get distracted and offer a little quick guidance to these poor souls.

The best approach is to do your research elsewhere then go to the store to look, touch, and buy. If someone approaches me I politely decline their "assistance".

It sounds to me like a salesperson who wanted you to get a new phone TODAY. So it's to there advantage to make you think the Pre is Soooo far off, you might as well get a <____> (fill in name of whatever they have plenty of stock of) in the meantime.....

The Sprint dude gave a pathetically laughable comment. The "suit" was not even filed, how could it be over? I for one hate Apple for abandoning the handheld market for so long and then suddenly coming in and acting as if they invented every single bit about handhelds. Just to state a few, threaded SMS was first seen on a Palm Treo; the ringer switch also from Treos; smooth scrolling with momentum and gestures are first seen on Picsel viewer (Clie veterans have been using it for years, now Picsel is suing); heck even that single button under the screen is just the PalmOS home button! And Steve came and made the world believe Apple innovated everything.

I really hope the Pre to succeed, yet I am worried that the Picsel suit might also affect the Pre.

Why don't you search blogs and posts on Palm's presentation to investment analysts on 2/11/09 before you believe and then post what any salesperson tells you? You can then learn what Palm's CEO actually said.

I'll give you some hints on where to look: PalmInfocenter, TreoCentral, Brighthand.

Palm's CEO can say anything he wants. I posted to share my experience which is what this forum is here for.

The people at Sprint are all stupid or liars. All they do is try to rip you off.
That's why millions are ditching them!
