Hello all,

The Clie has a backup program in place where you can backup your data which is RAM to your ms....

However, if you forget (like me) you want something that is automated. Believe me you dont want to find out that you didnt do a backup for 3 weeks after your clie locks up and crashes on you installing that so called 'killer app'.

Sure, you can set up reminders to do it, but i was wondering if there was a program that can backup for you anytime of the day even if your not using the clie and have it off?

Whats prompted this thread? Well, after installing the latest version of Zlauncher (3.20Beta), Tiger Woods Golf (which i had from my m505 days). Handyshopper, Kinoma player and GTS something went askew and pow....dead clie.....

not very impressed......all my fault.......

I use BackupBuddyVFS. Backs up my unit every morning at 5am automatically.

Backupman is automated, sorry about your loss :(!

It does NOT backup system updates or drivers, nor does any other backup app.

This one is quick and easy with a small foot print in RAM and on the MS.

I have tried all the backup app's and in my opinion BackupMan is the winner hands
down.

automated: YES
anytime of the day: YES
even if your not using the clie and have it off: YES

I have been testing beta app's this weeks so I configured it to backup every 4 hours
and set it for 6 backups a day.
Works great, and I needed them trust me.

n0m0n,

Thanks for sharing your experiences. I am in the process of select one of these apps myself. Your post and others should help to narrow down the field.

Larry,

Is it safe then to say that Backupman is also your favorite then?

Thanks,
John

I just use MS Backuo regularly, is there any advantage to using a third party backup up program other than scheduling the task? Also should I be backing up my backup (from MS to PC with MS Import) and what's the deal with the backup after hotsync?

Cheers

I use BackupBuddy VFS....works great for me. Any program you use would be better than none, as you found out unfortunately.

I run MSBAckup on an adhoc basis but I have a daily scheduled job setup using Backupman. I have done restore of files etc. from the Backupman backups - all works fine

Cheers

You should also look at Card Backup. Does scheduled or adhoc, and worked perfectly for me after an unexpected hard reset.
