Hello, kind spirits. :)

I have had no luck in getting my Windows 2000 SP3-based PC to see my 64MB MagicGate Memory Stick media when it is inserted into my new NZ90. I can see this media just fine when I insert it into my older Sony MediaStick MP3 player (NW-MS7).

I reformatted the stick in the NZ90 to hedge against there being a problem with the way the older MP3 player might have been using that media stick. The NZ90 sees the stick and writes to it just dandily, but I can get neither the MSImport nor the SonicStage program to recognize the MediaStick as a drive.

I have the Palm Desktop 4.1 installed. I have the newest available USB 2.0 drivers installed from the Dell website.

Has anyone else experienced this *and* successfully circumvented or cleared away the problem? I am open to any friendly suggestions. Thanks a lot! : ))

Here is one user's solution and it's fairly common with several models of the Clie. Most notibly Win 2K and Win XP. The most common cause is the Sony USB driver.

MSimport and Export:
THese were issues:
1) MS Export failed to install from CD.
2) MS IMport would connect to the computer but no way to access them.
Main Cause: 6in1 Media Reader.

My steps of solution:
1) Clean install is always the best. THus, uninstall Export, SCCI drive, and any remaning folders in the C:\program files or WIndows files that lead to this. Uninstall the drivers from the device manager.

2) Reboot (It's time consuming but worth it). I turn it off COMPLETELY and then turn it back on.

3A) Reload the MS Export and Import driver back and got it back to work.

3) HOWEVER, the issue for me was with a 6in1 media reader recently installed on the bay of my computer. I got a hint of this from a Linux based forum by change. (Those Linux folks detail forum with detailed information) I went back to device manager to disable the four storage volume drivers(?). THEN I Loaded.

I had to delete, reset, softset, harset, lose files including MS stick files and backup, smoke many packs, eyes watering from glare of the monitors, lacked in sleep but it's done. SO..to say time and effort...I made a COPY back up of MS stick files to My Documnets.

As for myself, I had issues with HP Printers and Iomega Zip drives. In one or two cases the Clies themselves have been trashed by ESD, even though the HotSync worked. Some have had trouble when over clocking their Clie.

I never use MS Export, but I do use MS Import on the Clie in concert with the desktop PC's file manager. MS Import causes the Clie to mount as an external drive. There is nothing wrong with using a card reader either. Whatever is easiest for you and that it does the job :)!

Thanks very much, n2ifp, for the suggestion. I start MS Import on my NZ, it establishes the connection and mounts the NZ as a drive on my computer so that I can push and pull stuff. It works for the OMG Jukebox program too! Cheers!

Great!

Well that's one way of doing it. Forget MS Export, just leave it alone. You can use MS Import on the Clie and use the laptop's file manager in concert with MS Import. It should show up as an external disk drive with a letter. Basically the same as the reader once you tap on MS Import.

There are multiple ways to install things, whatever works for you :)

MS-import is the only way to go :)
