is it possible to port old PC games into PALM. simple (graphically) but classic games like: Romace of the Three Kingdoms and other KOEI games or LEGEND games like Sorcerer's University 101 and Time Quest. I was just at the underdogs web site when i realized that these games would be really cool for PALM. just wondering... (-sigh-)

If the games are old enough to the point where the palm can play them then it's possible I"m sure. The problem with getting them on the palm is if someone wants to spend the time to port them to the palm os.

porting from these commercial games means rewriting them from scratch and imitating them. it's a lot of work.

Rewriting the whole thing is as difficult as writing any similar game. You don't have any code from those original developers to work with. You have to do it all yourself. It is very difficult and time consuming to write a game. Plus, one could not sell it because of all the graphics, text, title etc taken from the original game. Don't hope for ports, hope for new palm games that are as good/similar/better/etc.
Someone made a dos like app for palm a while ago, that people could develop for. No one really used it much. Why port a text-based OS to Palm? So that you can play games..... that is a tremendous amount of work to completely emulate DOS so that you can play all the DOS games on your Palm. Lots of obstacles. Don't keep your hopes up on this one, I don't think someone's going to port DOS to Palm when we don't even have something simpler like an NES emulator. Porting DOS means you have to emulate the x86 processor.

Someone already has - I cannot seem to recall either the title or where I see it - but it does exist, abeit with limited functionality.

It's not a true port. It's just something similar. It can only do text based things and cant run real dos apps.
