Hello, I am most likely going to buy the TG-50, but I am kind of turned off by the orange color of the backlit keyboard. Does anyone know if it is possible to remove the back cover of the clie and change the keyboard lights to possibly white or blue or something like that? Are the lights LED or some other type?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

It can be done. But it'll void your warranty.

I was interested in it also... I think it would be awesome if we could put white LED lights in our TG50s... or maybe blue.

I don't have a TG50, but I have done this type of modification before with many different electronic and computer components. I'm sure it would be pretty simple to do that unless of course Sony uses a proprietary LED or something like that. Basically, all you would need to do is to gain access to the LED's by separating the TG50's front and back (making sure not to "bungle" up the keys in case they are separate pieces. You wouldn't want to spend time trying to figure out where they go if you accidentally dropped the front of the case and the keyboard keys all fell out.). After gaining access to the LED's you would need to test the LED's voltage and check their size to get the proper LED's for replacement. Once you do find the right sized LED's with the right voltage rating, you would then have to solder the original LED's out and solder the new LED's in. Before putting the TG50's case back together, powering the TG50 on to check that the LED's all work, would be a very good idea.

All the items necessary for this modification can be found at Radio Shack.
