Hi!
I just ordered my nx-70v from dell (thanks danny for the coupon!) and it should be arriving shortly. I did a search and I discovered that eruware has a driver to make the cf slot operable. The driver is 27 dollars? Is that a little steep for what it does, because in the other posts I read that it doesnt work as well as the memory sticks. So say if I downloaded a couple episodes of simpsons, or maybe a movie on to a cf to watch on my clie, they would not work as well as if I put them on a ms? and can I take pictures with my clie and save them on the cf? sorry for the questions, I just dont want to shell out almost 30 bucks for something that might not work like I expect it to.
thanks!

thanks! Well, I'm going to make what will probably be an unpopular suggestion.

WAIT until you've become familiar with your NX before you worry about getting a CF card and the driver. See what your needs are. Learn how to work your NX, use the features and software. Don't just buy it because you can. You many not need it.

About the price . . . there are quite a few people who agree with you about the CF card being overpriced. They'll probably pipe in soon. There is no alternative, though.

Good luck & enjoy your new baby when it arrives.

FlyBoy777,

The driver price is insignificant to the amount of money that you save on CF memory card(s). The driver's performance can always be improved as time goes on.

First a little history. The alternative developer had planned to charge $40.00 for their CF driver. When EruWare announced it at $27.00, the other developer called it quits. The problem is the extreme difficulty that had to be overcome to get a working driver as Sony keeps all it's stuff proprietary. Considering the time and effort that went into it, I think $27.00 is a fair price. Too many are quick to judge something they have not been involved with, but in other circumstances I have been just as guilty. For 35 years I worked for money, not for free. I also doubt the developer is making a killing over it either.

Yellow Rose's suggestion to wait, might be a good idea in your case. You will need the memory stick regardless of what else happens. Later on then you can purchase a CF driver if you so choose to. By then more of the bugs will be worked out. Additionally, it may not be for everyone, it all depends on your needs.

well, the update to the driver is taking a while... so I would wait also... usually an update is available pretty soon after first release, especially if there are things to fix/improve right away...

hey Larry, any insight on when we get the new version?

Hi Greg!

I am sorry, but at the moment I have no clue and I am not going to speculate

I already said (my 2 bits worth) in another thread on this subject. The driver was just supposed to read/write and expand memory right? So with all the things that you can do with it, not even considering that the only alternative is an MSpro stick, I would say "be patient and let's see what happens".

the argument i think is not the price, but it's usefullness. you can not playback mp3's while running something from the memory stick and i don't know if you can save movies or pictures in a cf card. also what about msimport? does that work with a cf card? if it does all that or is about to be updated to do them, then i don't see a problem. if not though...
