Makodo sent a new edition of the Belkin keyboard driver, dated 5/17. It fixes some problems; not others.
It solved the conflict between Documents-To-Go and hotsyncing (as far as I can tell). But contrary to the release note, it does not seem to type much faster.
Oh, well! It's another step in the right direction! Would anyone like me to post it?

I have added the driver to the files section of the nXtClieClub Yahoo Group.
Remember that the zip files are labeled with dates, in the month-day-year format. Be sure to always get the driver with the most current date.

The most recent version is 05172003-OS5.zip

Thanks for posting a link, Ocell. I forget that I can't just attach a file to a thread messsage.

I'm still begging on my knees for the new stowaway.

It fixes the problem with 1, q and a not working on my keyboard, which the previous beta release had. But still the driver on the Belkin website works better for me--all keys work, and it's a lot faster.

Hmmm. I tried the driver at the Belkin site (date on the file: 3/29), and I couldn't tell it was any faster at all. I wonder if there's another factor at play. Has anyone else compared the two?

Thanks Ocell! I've got the Belkin Driver page bookmarked and have been checking it everyday - to no avail-- they still have the 03/28/03 driver posted there for OS5. Wonder if they want us to believe that's the best they can do....

Another vote of thanks to Ocell! This has made life much more bearable (well, ok, maybe taking things a _bit_ far, but certainly made using the keyboard much easier). No worries now about remembering to move the driver, reboot... etc each time I want to use the thing.
I don't find the speed too difficult, the space bar is still a little finicky, but as long as I remember to pace my typing and aim for the centre of the bar each time, no worries.
As a side issue, does anyone know if Belkin does international overlay files for the keyboard? I use "£" a lot more than "$", and it'd be nice to be able to remap the key...

Banshee... Does the driver not slow your sistem down anymore? I still have to keep mine out of RAM because it affects the speed of my entire unit.
If it does resolve the speed issue for you, what unit are you using?

It still slows mine down, but it seems as if it's not quita as bad as it used to. (My benchmark is "bejeweled". You can really tell the difference in speed with and without the driver installed to RAM)

Ocell, I have a(n) NX70. All the previous drivers have really eaten into the processor - my best benchmark is a Crossword program I have. Previously, the flashing cursor in a crossword square would slow down appreciably with the driver loaded in RAM. With this driver, there is some slowdown, but it is very slight indeed. The typing speed is also a little slow, but with my spelling that can be a bonus :D
It seems very strange to me, the enormous variety of experiences I've seen on the various threads about this driver. For example, until this version, my Clié would hang every time on Hotsync (with the driver loaded), irrespective of whether I had run DtG previously or not. Other people have not had this problem. The "missing keys" syndrome (á la Pruss) affected me way back with one of the earlier betas, but hasn't been a problem since then. Other people have had a problem right up to this latest driver. I can't think of any other software that has seen these sort of problems.
