is there a palm os program out there that you can use if you download a zip file directly to your palm that you can then unzip the prc file to a ms? without using a pc

Yes, if you have an OS5 Clie, the latest ClieFiles has this function. There are also some third party softwares that can do this. FlyZip (http://www.fly-zip.com/) is one. There are a few others, but I can't think of there names right now. But you could probably find them by searching Handango or Palmgear.

Hanzipper will do this. http://www.handwatch.com/handwatch/fetch.php3?form_sec_name=PalmHandZipper

You can copy a winzip file into MS (to /Palm/Programs/Handzipper) and you can use handzipper to extract it to RAM. Other zip programs (such as flyzip etc) use a compression format that is not compatible to winzip.

what is the use of zlib? can i not install the zbooter prc and use lightnzip to unzip winzip files only? Will the zlib prc be used solely for lightnzip, or i could be used by other apps as well?

n ermm, there are apps dat comes wit zlib prc files, how do i know which one i the updated one? Like, Lightnzip have the armlet zlib, and Megacom comes wit its own zlib files too!!!! How!!!!
