I stumbled across ProfileSaver by pruss, in the freeware programs, and it looks pretty useful.

It would be nice if it had an autosave feature similar to NVBackup, where that it would save the last 7 profiles, based on various events. For example, when you leave a program and launch another program, or leave a program and return to the launcher. Or at least when the device turned off, via the power button, or auto off.

It already appears to let you select individual applications, so you could set the auto feature on just a few applications that you want to keep the state, like TCPMP or pTunes.

Nice idea I think there are too few users of ProfileSaver for it to be worthwhile. I don't use it much myself any more. I initially used it for bookmarking in tcpmp (I use tcpmp to listen to audio books, mainly from librivox.org), but since I have so many PDAs at home, it's easier to just have different books on different PDAs. :-) Or to use pTunes for one audio book and tcpmp for another (though I don't like pTunes--it doesn't start and stop instantly like tcpmp does, but has a one second delay).
