View Full Version : Controlling what gets added to Global Find

On my Palm TX, whenever I execute the built-in Global Find command, I realize that there are all these third-party programs that add themselves to the global find function . Some of these applications do not provide an option to disable the "add to find" . It gets to be very tedious to find a simple appointment, since the global find seems to access databases in alphabetical order.
Is there way to control the priority for global find searches or to control what databases get added to the search function?

Minor Note: The Global find function first searches the current application, then all other applications. Thus if what you are searching for appointment, launch your calendar program before starting the global search.

FindHack allows you to choose which apps to include in the Global Search.

FindHack will indeed do all you require, but it is abandon-ware and has a few glitches.
I found that it would crash most of the time if getting more than a screenful of hits.
There is a 4.06 version and a much harder to find 4.07.
I prefer 4.07 as it fixes a small bug of some results not showing.
If you have problems getting 4.07, then I have it in my archives somewhere, but it is shareware as well as abandon-ware.

I read in some posts that it crashes on the Treos because of some security fix update which would not be the case on my TX. Is that true?
Also, can this abandon-ware still be purchased on PalmGear or something?
If not, is there another option that "hacks into" Global Find?

That's correct. Works on TX but it does not work properly on Treos.
