As per my last post, I may have to replace my Clie. I'd like something as close to our Clie as possible, what do you all recommend?
Thank you.

Not sure if it is "close" to Clie, but I replaced mine with an iPhone (an iPod Touch will work, too). It has a decent calendar and contacts, plus I bought Appigo Notebook and Todo to replace the built in Palm apps. It of course plays music and video, and surfs the net way better than my TH55 could.

I'm afraid Palm devices are being left behind..

Hey Bob,
I'm confused. As I use my Clie for pretty much nothing but the apts, contacts and things to do, would the iTouch work? Does it have handwriting recognition and what is Appigo and Todo that you reference?
Thanks,
Tom

The iPod Touch has built in calendar and contacts applications. A company called Appigo (appigo.com) sells nice Todo and Notebook applications - other vendors sell similar products, but I am happy with the Appigo apps.

The Touch and iPhone use a virtual keyboard for text entry - it is similar to typing on a cell phone like a Blackberry or Treo.

I find that the Touch does everything that my Clie did. I miss the integration of contacts, todo, calendar and notes that I got from Datebk, but I still get the same basic functionality, with a nicer display. Plus I can check my email and access the web much easier than on my Clie.

I am currently evaluating an iPod Touch as a PDA.

I had used TH-55's for several years and recently upgraded (backdated?) to an iPAQ hx4700. But that just went belly-up. That's what I get for buying yesterday's powerhouse PDA's used...

We use Touches for web-based display systems control here in my facility. I was deperate because of the loss of my PDA, and then said "wait a minute", the Touch IS a PDA...

I was able to turn on the sync function in iTunes this afternoon and Outlook Calendar and Contacts now syncs very time I dock the Touch.

Sweet!

Oh yeah, and I have MP3's from 160 ripped CD's in the 8GB of onboard memory.

This could push me over the edge...
