Are you sure that hotsync is open? If it is open, double-check that the USB setting is selected. Do this by right clicking on the hotsync icon, and making sure "Local USB" is selected. Also, have you tried soft resetting, then hotsyncing?

Since you have a TE2 you could buy a bluetooth adaptor for your computer and syncronize using bluetooth....
If another friend has a treo or a TE2 or Tx you could borrow their cord and see if it is your cord or contacts on the TE2. Or get a magnifying lens and see if the gold contacts are clean....

I've had problems before with it not working, but usually wiggling the connector a bit with the PDA off would get it working. It worked earlier in the day I started this thread but that has been the last time it's worked.
It beeps when the cable is connected, indicating it's getting power and Hotsynch launches when the button on the cable is pressed, and of course I have Hotsynch manager running. The problem is one or both data pins aren't making a connection.
This connector is a lousy design with tiny contacts that are exposed and with a non-wiping connection with the interface cable. Non-wiping connections for data are not reliable. Remember the original Nintendo and the problem it had? The contacts just pressed against the cartridge PCB so there was no wiping to cut through any oxidation.
The Visor's connector, though it shared some of the same problems with the "Athena" connector, had LARGE ROBUST contacts that were easy to clean and could withstand lots of cleaning.
I'd much rather Palm had stick with the rugged and reliable mini-USB connector the Tungsten E had.
