I have been informed that I will not be able to use my Treo at work anymore. I am being told that only Blackberrys will be allowed. Security is the cited reason. Here it is; in the event that I am fired or defect to another company, only Blackberrys have the capability of being "killed" remotely. Is this true? Is there any argument that I can make to keep them from taking my precious Treo away from me  ? I have 2 days and the clock is ticking...

Treos can be remotely wiped by multiple means - PalmPowerups Blue Pill comes to mind. The large corporation I work for also cited the same reason for not allowing any PalmOS based phone. I informed them of solutions to every flaw they found, but chose to leave their reports unchanged. It sounds like your company is the same, they just don't want to support Palm so they make an excuse to eliminate it. The only true answer as to why they won't support Palm is because (OK parents, all together now)... "Because I said so". To take their side for a very brief moment, they are most likely looking for Enterprise type tools, not a shareware app some guy wrote. Most of us here have complete faith in this guys (Dmitry) products, but that doesn't always work for big business.

Thanks for coming to my pity party and for offering the confirmation. All the signs point to exactly what you said. I am frustrated and irritated but this appears to be one battle that will not be won. :(

There are many apps that can kill it remotely, like wiping the RAM, the SD or not allowing it to work with another SIM card. I think Butler does some of that things and there are 2 or 3 more.

You can go for SMS commander as well. http://www.suntzu-software.com/smscommander.htm
Does that remote wipe thing and more. Have your admins choose the password. I'm not sure how they'll prevent you from uninstalling the app though.

They all allow to completely wipe all the memory from the Treo and memory card. remotely via sms

umm...a US cellphone carrier and 4 major corporations licensed a customized version of BluePill...
all other mentioned utils are garbage (just do a warm reset and delete them - it's trivial)

umm...a US cellphone carrier and 4 major corporations licensed a customized version of BluePill...That's impressive. As I said, "doesn't always work" - that implies that sometimes it does.
Congrat's!
