When I do a sync my Palm Desktop (PD) get all the info, my handheld show an almost blank screen (meaning data have been erased)

Now That I think about it, the problem appeared after I started to sync with outlook. Then reverted to PD thinking I would not have that problem but it did.

I tried to do an Event purge. Not good result.
Any idea? Thank you

Outline of what to do:
Validate what you think is happening is happening.
Check the Hotsync log.
Is the palm indeed syncing with the Palm Desktop, or is it syncing with Outlook (or nothing at all)?
Is name give in the Hotsync log the same as the name being viewed in Palm Desktop?

Figure out were the best data currently is.
Is it in Outlook, Palm Desktop, the handheld?
What data can be dropped if needed? Examples:
If the handheld has nothing on it, it's data could be dropped.
If the handheld has only a few records on it, and all of these records are in the Palm Desktop, then the handheld data could be dropped.

Backup. What ever data is good, back it up before proceeding, just in case something goes wrong we can fall back and try again.

Plan the course of action. Through the use of techniques as follows restore and merge the good data back onto the handheld and into Palm Desktop.
Switch conduits back to Outlook, temporarily.
Set all the conduits to Desktop overwrites handheld, or handheld overwrites desktop as appropriate.

More details needs. I've spent too much time on this so far, for the moment. Others may be could fill in some of the blanks, and/or with a little more info from you we could limit our replies to what is actually needed.

Thank you Potter,
I checked your list. Everything is good.
Here is my issue I believe. The only things that are sync on the Handheld are data that are in the category: "unfiled"
Since most of my data are categorized. They disappear from the handheld after the clean up. I don't know how to sync data that are categorized.
Thank you for your help.

Create the same Categories on your device as you have on the Desktop and they will sync to the handheld. The User Guide is on your install CD or on the T|E support page at palm.com if you have lost the CD.

The System conduit in Hotsync Manager must be set to Handheld Overwrites Desktop and the Set As Default Box checked.

Thank you Guys to walk me through this. This problem was ridiculous. Dick you talked about Category to be the same. They are but I saw in "Options" menu the "Appt. Categories". There I selected the "multiple select" and highlighted all the categories and the "synchronize" option was already selected. Back to the calendar all the appointments are displayed.
I wish I could set a different background color for each category. I am using DateBook5.
May life brings you great moments. :D
