Hi,
I've searched the forums left and right and to no avail...
therefore, I have decided that after sufficient tries on my own, it is now time to enlist the help of the forum users...
I have a ux50, a sony ericsson z310a, and lol a compaq presario 1930 running ubuntu linux...I was wondering if there was a way to connect my laptop to the internet by either a direct usb connection from the z310a or using the usb cable and connecting the ux50.
I hope I have completely explained my desires.
ANY help on this matter will be MOST appreciated.

Thank you all.

The UX will require a WiFi connection meaning you will need a wireless network first. Surely it would be easier just to connect the laptop to the wireless network...?

Um. I connect my ux50 to the internet via bluetooth. What I want to do is connect my pc to the internet using either a combination of the z310a and ux50 or to my z310a.

I did some more research, and I think a dongle would do the trick.
Do you know if it matters what kind of dongle (in terms of device compatibilities)? Like would it matter if my dongle was compatible with my ux50 or my z310a or are all dongles more or less compatible with both?

Thank you MB for your reply. :)

ok wait are you trying to use your ux50 as a gateway to the internet? or did I read that wrong? if that is the case then thats seems ... a little silly to say the least. If you want your computer on the internet via your phone then just get a USB bluetooth dongle, though you need to make sure it works with linux and whatever bluetooth stack you are using. I would recommend the really nice tiny kensington one here ( http://us.kensington.com/html/14409.html ) as I know it works with Hardy. For setting up the dialer/phone connectivity you should hit up the Ubuntu Forums
