Palm painters of the world rejoice!!
Just stumbled upon this new beta of MoePaint:
http://amulet.sakura.ne.jp/tha/palm/p.htm
This is version 1.2b7 and was released on Aug 28th 2008. According to the changelog, there's a way to adjust scrolling and the app is more stable overall. Another change I've noticed so far is that there's a Smudge tool available now.
Now the bad news... it expires after March 23rd 2009.
Hope the author will finally let the app free for the retropalmer in all of us.
Good sketching and drawing to all of you 'till then!

How did you find that out? I just tested it and the date is correct but why add an expire date to this app?

seriously...there is no time limit. The app never calls any api that gets current date/time, and i just ran it with date set to 2010...where do you get these limits from people?

Palm Treo 755
Prefs>Date & Time>Automaticly set: nothing>manually set: loc/date/time past march 23 2009.
voila!
If theres a workaround other than manually adjusting the date after it expires Please let me know. ;)

It doesn't happen in the palm simulator. It also has been noted that there is no API calls for the date.
Try on a real device with that date (if u weren't)? Also check the 1.2beta6 and see if that works on a device with that date.
Unless we have permission from the original author, we cannot allow any hacking of the application (even if it is freeware).

A slight problem with this beta.
When scaling is used the image exported gets distorted. It looks fine in moepaint, but outside of the app its not even a picture. :(

I have exported the image (from 640x320) and yes it shows a bunch of fuzzy patterns on the Piscel viewer. I suppose you can save the view by taking a photograph or using a program that saves what is shown on the screen.
Anyway Moe Paint is intended as a substitue for a Paint Program, and that serious painters use a photoshop program for serious art.

Moe Paint is no longer useable, I looked for an update and didn't find one. I don't read Japanese but google does a fair enough translation when you put the address in search you will see a translation of the article...

Hey, great news! Now I don't need to keep it around just in case. And I just free'd up 1.4 M of RAM!
It was a fun tool when it worked. I haven't used it in a while b/c of the withdrawal of features. I guess I still have my little tiles and memories.
