Hello all... I finally did it! Yesterday I upgraded from the NR70 to the NX70V. I did it for a few reasons. First, my NR70 was giving me problems, so it was time. Second, I was interested in the ability to dictate on to the MS using the micrphone (office letters, etc.) and finally because of the ability to use the CF, although with what I have been reading, it isn't all that it has cracked up to be--- yet, that is.

So here is the question... Has anyone copied movies on to the CF and viewed them on the NX? If so, are there sites to obtain these movies? How do you go about getting them? What do you use to view them?

Thanks in advance for your input.

Yes, you can copy movies to the CF card. To view them, you need to enable MS masquerading for Movie Player to recognize them.

Some people have converted Movie trailers and the such to the Palm Format. You need the program "Image Converter" that came on the NX70V install disc to convert the movie files into a format the NX70V can understand.

Has anyone come up with a web site for housing these movies? Are they available on BearShare or anything like that?

I am not aware of any such site. They would eat up bandwidth on a website

There is an mirc server. It is called ClieIRC, I used to go on it a lot. I would give you a link but I don't have it, try google.

I've got some stuff available via FTP. Try anonymous login to halesy.dyndns.org. I've made the file names a bit more informative so if you download anything you'll need to change the filename.

For example, an episode of Red Dwarf is names RD SQ MOV00504.MQV - RD stands for Red Dwarf, SQ is Standard Quality used in Image Converter. So take of the start of the filename and just use MOV00504.MQV.

This is a program that helps with movie filenames but I haven't got around to trying it.

I also have a Direct Connect Hub at the same address but I'm thinking of stopping that, but you can check it out of you like.

There's 3 connections live at the moment so I'm not sure what happened to you. I am using a dynamic IP so you ight have be unfortunate that you timed it as it was updating. Have another try and let me know.

Halesy, I can't find where you keep the files on your site.

For movies- try mjpd.com, or if you want the mirc server, search for "mirc" in this forums and a million threads should come up about movies.

The files are right there, organized in folders when you connect. I am downloading the SImpson's movies as I speak!

Glad to see people downloading. If you want to upload anything then give me a shout.

(Although this is slowing down me playing CS)

Me too. I have tried to get on to the site, but have not been able to. I'm not sure what I am doing wrong.

I've tried ftp://halesy.dyndns.org

Is that correct?

You need an FTP client to download from that address, here's a link to one that free for non-business use:

http://www.ftpplanet.com/download.htm

I do have the stuff on a web page but FTP is better.

wow, Halesy, I see you're beginning to host your own FTP Server for movie downloads, hehehe, which is really cool. I wanted to post your site for people to download movies but then seems you've beat me to it before I can email you and ask you about posting it. I think I'd be interested to have an account with your FTP, since I also do quite some video editing myself. surely you can use a hand. :D

email me at your convience. Oh think I still owe you that beer!

Now that I have an NX, I will be making episodes of Family Guy available as soon as I put the converter software on my PC.

Get on IRC and head over to irc.autobotnation.com The channel is #clie. There you can download all types of movies, tv shows, anime, and general videos of all types. Very nice channel where everyone actually wants to help you.

I have the DVD collection but, apart from a quick test, haven't gotten around to converting anything.

Wait a second. I have the NX60. You mean I can use the CF slot to input CF cards other than the WL100 wireless card? I thougt that slot was for the WL100, and only that (as it says).

I only have 4 episodes done right now. They're unnamed and available on IRC and my ftp.
