VersaMail and T|X or LifeDrive

Has anyone succeeded in installing a VersaMail version greater than 3.5 on their T|X or LifeDrive? I'd be happy to get to 3.5.4 or even 4.x if possible. I'd like to utilize the Global Address Lookup feature. Unfortunately, I am being forced to use VersaMail more frequently as the ChatterEmail EX Plug-in is becoming increasingly less useful.

I installed the version 3.5.4 on my LD and it works fine. nonetheless I prefer Snappermail.

I have tried installing 3.5.4 using Missing Sync on Mac and HotSync on Windows. Each time I try to use the Exchange account I receive the same message: "The server had trouble with your account settings. Go to Account Setup in the Accounts menu and try again. Deleting messages may also help."
Deleting and then recreating the Exchange account seems to make no difference. The wifi is not turned on so it can't be accessing the server at all. IMAP accounts, however, work fine.

I didn't have these problems as I actually reinstalled from scratch ALL software in both LD and PC (win XP). The only trouble I got is the first time you open versmail 3.5.4 the palm reboots, but after that it works fine.

You have tried using Exchange, correct? IMAP and POP work ok but my problem seems to be with EAS.

Thanks for the link - however, I'd already tried those steps in order.

The EAS_SP2 update chokes like a big dog on the LifeDrive and throws the error: (Sys 0505)(0,841).

Perhaps if Tam Hanna would update the MakeTungsten program for a Treo 680 or Centro, then we could try the 4.07 Versamail update.

I'm almost resigned to the fact that I won't be able to use Global Address Lookup as I can't get past 3.5.1.

you should definitely try snappermail. the only downer was that i had to get the most expensive version for imap and ssl. but it's way more stable than any other client i've used, ie:
agendus, versamail, chatter

I'm sorry - the thing being sought here is Exchange Active Sync support. Snappermail cannot do this. There are only a few email programs capable - and only one that is being developed.

Hence the interest in trying to install newer versions of Versamail onto the LifeDrive or T|X.

It's pretty much a self contained system - there's no integration with the existing Palm PIM apps, unlike Versamail.
