View Full Version : PowerVolume reset loop, can't delete

I was looking over the 'experimental' stuff from PalmPowerUps.com late last night, and I gotta say, FrameTX and Graffiti 1.999 are FANTASTIC. However, the website didn't say anything about PowerVolume requiring UDMH (as I found out on these forums afterwards), and after installing that I encountered a little turbulence: http://img.thedailywtf.com/images/200701/pup/Guernsey_wind.png (credit: The Daily WTF--and FYI, WTF=Worse Than Failure).

Anyways, my Palm TX is now totally messed up (apparently I do have more important things to worry about that flash memory failure). I can get out of the reset loop by doing a warm reset, but now the Wi-Fi icon in the status bar is gone, although it doesn't matter since, more importantly, PowerDigi didn't initialize and I'm stuck with the messed up digitizer drift that won't let me tap anything on the status bar. FrameTX doesn't initialize either, although Graffiti 1.999, as I've mentioned previously, works AMAZING.

Attempted solution 1: Delete PowerVolume using the Delete... function in the Applications menu: FAIL. If I scroll to anywhere where the form has to show text between 'PowerDiGi' and 'PP_P2P', the device will soft reset and continue to do so until I warm reset. That seem off to anyone? Can't even display the NAME of PowerVolume in the Delete form? The name and default icon will display perfectly fine in Applications proper.

Attempted solution 2: Delete using Bird or UniCMD: FAIL. I get a 'error' type alert with the title 'Launch Error' and the text 'The application cannot be launched because of a system error.

Attempted solution 3: Download FileZ and try to delete using that: FAIL. While Blazer (and Opera Mini, interestingly) will both launch without 'system error[s]', and both will also connect to the internet via Wi-Fi, and both will load web pages fine, Blazer refuses to download because 'Download failed' and Opera Mini freezes for a moment before exiting. I saved to /Palm/Launcher, but FileZ doesn't appear under the 'category' CARD in Applications so I don't think it worked.

Attempted solution 4: Download and install trial of UDMH: FAIL. Same problems as FileZ.

Any other options? I'd hate to do a hard reset, although it would sure serve me right for doing far too many (read: zero) backups since I last hard resetted.

I'd appreciate any help, suggestions, questions, or snide comments regarding my posting this so soon after a post about how I was afraid of the sky falling down--I mean, flash memory failing.

Thanks, Han

PS: More wierd things: Most things, including Warfare Incorporated, display 'Launch Error':'Could not launch due to system error.' (or whatever) when I launch them. However, ZGrab, a screengrab app I never touched, will launch Warfare Inc. when I tap it, and upon launch Warfare Inc. works perfectly fine (well, the 2px white frame is more annoying than ever since Warfare Inc. is often black, but other than that).

Also, now D-Pad is messed up too, though the application shortcut buttons work fine. Center doesn't work at all, and each directions seems to double the number of times I click it (e.g., I press the up button once, the cursor moves up two lines).
