Hmmm, used to live in Boston. I'd try Best Buy. There's one in the Cambridge Side Galleria, just over the bridge.

I'm north of Boston. Best Buy, CompUSA, Circuit City are all over the place. Their websites all show locations.

I would agree with those above. Boston doesn't have the shady electronics shops on every block like New York does. If I were going to by non-online I would get it from one of the three above. One of them should be close to anywhere your visiting in the Boston Area. If you have a car you could drive up to Nashua, NH about 30-40 mintues from downtown boston. Where there is not sales tax. Massachussetts has 5% sales tax. It's up to you. All three of those stores are at the first exit over the New Hampshire boarder.

I just remember some other stores which might have it (you can check there websites) Officemax, Officedepot, and Staples. All reputable. And depending on the Staples store they will match an online price you have printed out with you. They also usually have online coupons. I tend to save a lot there. Again all just over the border in New Hapshire if you want to see the area or all over the place in the Boston Area.

You might also want to look at Microcenter (http://www.microcenter.com/) . It's on the Cambridge side of the river, on Memorial Drive.

Only 4 weeks and me and my girlfriend are going to visit Boston and New England!!! I still have some questions about buying a pda in the usa. You mention 'all reputable' and coupons....doesn't that only apply for people living in the USA? And another question: the prices mentioned on the online-store (for example Best Buy) are those the prices you will have to pay in the store or do you have to add taxes on these prices? Maybe stupid questions but I would like to be informed before I visit a store
thanX for any reply's!:)

Usually the prices in store are the same as online. If you are buying it in person in Massachusetts, you will need to pay 5% sales tax.

Many people cross the border into New Hampshire to make expensive purchases, and avoid paying sales tax. Massaschusetts residents are supposed to pay sales tax on purchaces they make out of state but plan to use in state. As you are not a Massachusetts resident, this is not a problem. If you are from overseas, you may need to pay dutys, etc.

-Hope this helps

Yes it helps! Nice to know how it works down there. I lot different then in The Netherlands, here we all pay the same tax all over the country (19% tax, you got to admit thats quit a lot!), so when I visit Boston I will be more than willing to pay 5% tax...;)

19%? Makes "Taxachusetts" look reasonable. Don't tell anyone here about the 19% - don't give them ideas! ;)

When I moved from New York to Massachusetts, I thought everyone was nuts about how much they complained about the tax rates. Sales tax in NYC was over 8% (as oposed to 5% in Mass). The income tax was also several percent higher in NYC than in Mass. So why do I hear more complaints in Massachusetts about the tax rates than in NY?

Not to mention, I don't need a clie to figure out the tax in Mass (5% is simple enough to compute in my head). (I figured I needed to bring this post slightly more on topic).

As to where to buy in the boston area, "Bestbuy" and "Officemax" tend to have the best prices. But, sometimes the advertised prices include mail in rebates (which are useless if you don't live in the USA).

Any coupons are for anyone who has them not just for US citizens. No one is going to ask you for a passport when you buy something.

Coupons are for everyone. They are used at the time of purchase.

Some places have "instant rebates". This is an odd sales technique. When the item is scanned at the register, a discount will be applied. I don't know why stores bother with this. I guess they think that it makes people think they are getting a good deal.;)

I frequently see mail in rebates. They usually will only mail the rebate check to a US address. They probably assume that some people won't bother mailing in the rebate information in order to get some $.

I also would like to buy a Memory Stick Pro 256 MB, but I understand that Bestbuy do not sell them? (not on line so I suppose they don't sell them in stores also???)

They may sell them in the stores. I've noticed that Best Buy doesn't always have all of their products on the website.

btw, I'm in NH, just 45 min north of Boston. You could even head up to Salem, NH, which is a straight shot right up Rte 93, exit 1. about 1/2 hour.

They have BestBuy, CompUSA (in the same complex even) Circuit City and Staples. And they are all on the same road. Also, when you check out these stores websites, see if they have a link for this weeks flyer. You can see what they have on sale in the stores.

Have a great trip!

I just came home from my vacation from New England!
And Yes I bought my TG50, I think its a great machine...I still need to install a lot of things but my 1st impression is : Cool pda!
I bought the tg50 at CircuitCity (thanks for all the advise I got on this forum people!). Got an mail in-rebate of $50 and a free leather case, but for me living in the Netherlands it is useless...but still it was a great deal!
