Hello all,

Im in the market to purchase a 256mb MS-Pro type card card for my NX.

In Australia these types of cards (256mb) are very expensive with prices in the $390-$450 being very common.

However, im the bargain hunter type and i have come across two cards which i beleive to be value for money. Both cards are stated to be MS-Pro cards.

Genuine Sony 256mb MS-PRO $375.00 AUD (approx).
Sandisk 256mb MS-PRO $275.00 AUD (approx).

My question is:

Which one is the 'better' one out of the two? Is there anything i need to know when purchasing either one of these cards for use in my NX?

Oh, i forgot. For those of you who are going to tell me how prices are cheaper overseas, please dont. Im located in Australia and customs is a very big issue here. Anyway by the time i get it here (if it clears through customs) it would probably be the same price.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah I know - but prices are important..
I dont really know about the difference cause I think the NX cant use the super power abilities the Pro has...

yes prices are important however ive gone past that now.

ive decided im going to stick with products already here in australia on this occasion.

in regards to ms pro both the NX and NZ CAN use these sticks provided that they have the updated software driver from sony which is on the web site.

SanDisk makes them for Sony as well so perhaps there is no diff. MStickPro units are I believe all MagiGate as well. If you want real numbers I would suggest a search of Sony, Sandisk and Lexar sites for specs... they do offer them...

There should be no difference between the two except for price! All the SanDisks are identical to the Sony, Lexar is the one I question, as many users have had issues with them.

The MS Pro Magic Gate does NOT work for the ATRAC3 music format in the Clie, as per Sony support!

the sandisk and i/o data run a bit slower than sony. the lexar is a bit faster than all of them. but the reality is, you may not actually notice much of a speed difference unless you are dealing with large files go back and forth on the stick. hope this helps.

The MS Pro format was actually developed jointly by SanDisk and Sony, so I would tend to think neither of the two would be able to have an advantage when it comes to making the media.

In addition, in the original agreeement that led up to this development, the ordinary MS media SanDisk sells is actually re-branded Sony media. SanDisk provides lots of the actual flash memory chips to Sony.(http://www.sandisk.com/pressrelease/010905_sony.htm)

So, it is highly likely your Sony and SanDisk MS Pro sticks might come off the same assembly line.
