View Full Version : NZ crashes constantly

I upgraded from an NR70V to an NX90 about 2 weeks ago and have had nothing but grief ever since! The loss of all of my hacks was a blow but that's an OS limitation so I deal with it but the problem I'm having now is that when adding new apps that require a reset the thing dies. I first noticed this when adding the camera update from Sony... reset the an error message saying Window - something.c - something (I forgot to write it down and forgive me for not wanting to recreate it) and a reset button. If you reset it does the same thing, over and over. The only fix is to hard reset, blow out the backup folder and re-synch - including re-doing date/time, digitizer, etc. I swear, I must hold the worlds record for speed when it comes to re-entering all of the start up stuff!
My question is: has anyone else run into this reset=death problem? It's happened when adding Sony updates, Tealmaster demo, Picsel viewer (or any SOny add-in from the CD) - basically if it needs a reset, I'm done.
To be honest, I'm now using the NR70V as my main workhorse again and the NZ90 as an oddly shaped digital camera!

try a complete reset. There is some special combo that will allow you to start from scratch. Oh, and you havent been trying to add any bad apps have you.
Try the sony CD stuff first (from the NZ CD only!) and then see if it dies. Then try sony's updates. Then create a seperate BKP then. In other words, dont kill your old one.
The try 3rd party updates. This may help you locate the problem. And, BTW - after each app install and has been tested and is running and functioning, make a backup. overwrite this one with the next one and so on. This should help.
Good luck and if you dont want your NZ - i will have it.

Did you directly HotSync the NR70 stuff onto the NZ90? If you did, that was a big no-no! Please see this link below, Thanks!

That's a funny one... I might just take a little trip back to the store for a replacement on that one... Something ain't right! edit:Unless you did Hotsync your NR70 contents across... UhOh!!!
I know I tried to caution my brother repeatedly not to directly hotsync his S-*** over to his new NX but for some reason, he thought it'd be okay.

I had no problems when I moved from the NX to the NZ but if your are your post makes it seem that you are syncing two units on one PC and that may be your problem. If you have to do do it that way you might consider installing the software for one of the units to a totally different dirve or directory. good luck
