A lot of NVFS devices tend to lose their Flash ROM IDs. This is a problem for some apps that use it for registration, and in general is annoying. This free app will assign your device a new unique RomID and set it. This setting survives hard Resets. The "Set RomID" app can be found => [HERE (http://www.palmpowerups.com/downloads.php?cat_id=2&rowstart=27)] <=
If you want a vanity RomID (like "John's PDA"), i am willing to take interest in your request for a nominal fee :D
do not run this if your device has powerdrive

(I don't think peepul realize just how scary the possibilities are with a simple app like this - think of it being customizable for specific ROM IDs for specific Apps...)

It isn't. It sets it once, as long as the current RomID does not exist.

Traditionally and for the vast majority of devices (that have RomIDs), yes. However there are exceptions. Most notably refurbished devices will often have a RomID not equal to the serial number.
